Marvel Studios Skipping Comic-Con Hall H Panel for 2025
Image
The Avengers will have to wait to assemble in San Diego for another year.

Marvel Studios will have a smaller presence at Comic-Con this year, skipping its annual blockbuster presentation in Hall H on Saturday, Variety has confirmed. With “Avengers: Doomsday” moving its release date from May 2026 to December 2026, the studio is holding its powder for Comic-Con 2026, rather than suspend production in London to fly its cast of more than two dozen stars to appear on stage in San Diego this year.

The company is still planing panels and events focused on its comics and games, as well as a booth that will play off of the release of “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” which opens in theaters on the Friday of the annual fan convention. (The stars of the film will appear at the fan convention Ccxp Mexico this weekend.)

Since the preview of “Iron Man” electrified Hall H at the 2007 San Diego Comic-Con,...

Lilo & Stitch Passed Captain America: Brave New World's Global Cume In A Week - But There's Some Good News
Image
Captain America: Brave New World earned only $415 million at the worldwide box office, a disappointing result made worse by the fact that reshoots reportedly sent its budget skyrocketing to a whopping $300 million.

Thunderbolts*, which received far more positive reviews, has similarly underperformed. At best, it will likely finish its run with $380 million.

Don't feel too sorry for Disney, though, as Lilo & Stitch is shaping up to be 2025's biggest hit. Following a record-breaking Memorial Day weekend, the live-action adaptation of the 2002 animated classic passed $421 million on Wednesday...meaning it outgrossed Captain America: Brave New World's $415 million in less than one week.

It's not all doom and gloom for the McU's Sam Wilson; Captain America: Brave New World has been #1 on Disney+ since arriving on the streaming platform earlier this week.

Even more important is the news that the movie is #1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales,...

“Losing $100 Million”: Deadpool Creator Hints Kevin Feige Should Be Fired From MCU After Thunderbolts*
Image
Something’s not quite right in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with each release, it’s becoming increasingly obvious. Fans have started to feel that the studio, which once set gold standards for box office dominance, has recently taken a string of blows that people couldn’t have predicted five years ago, and now, Thunderbolts* seems to have joined this lineup.

There’s disappointment and growing dissatisfaction among fans and creators alike. Voices that were once associated with Marvel have also begun to criticize its creative legacy. And maybe it’s needed because where’s the spark, who’s steering the ship, and should someone be fired for this?

Rob Liefeld calls out Kevin Fiege for Thunderbolts* A still from Thunderbolts* | image: Marvel Studios

Many have found Thunderbolts* to be an enjoyable movie, but on the box-office front, it wasn’t supposed to be such a catastrophe. It had MCU...

George Lucas
Ryan Reynolds has pitched an ‘R-rated’ Star Wars. What would that look like?
George Lucas
If the franchise were to embrace a darker side, could we expect geysers of blood as in the samurai films that inspired George Lucas? Or does Reynolds just want a sweary, snarky Star Wars like Deadpool?

Take all the essential ingredients of Star Wars – samurais in space, adventure among the wookiees, aliens with backward syntax, evil cyborgs with a penchant for murder by telekinesis – then imagine George Lucas hadn’t given us all of that through a PG prism. This, it appears, is what Ryan Reynolds did when pitching to Disney. “I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated Star Wars property?’” Reynolds told The Box Office podcast. “‘It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters. There’s a wide range of characters you could use.’ And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don...

Deadpool & Wolverine’s Crying Thor Scene Wasn’t Just A Joke — It Almost Replaced An Entire MCU Movie!
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine’s Crying Thor Scene (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Looking back now, it’s wild to think how Deadpool & Wolverine almost went in a totally different direction. We’re talking frame-by-frame remake of Thor: The Dark World different levels. Yep, Deadpool nearly hijacked an entire MCU movie before crashing into the multiverse we know today.

With Deadpool & Wolverine having joined the exclusive billion-dollar club, it’s easy to assume it was a slam dunk from day one. But the road to that final cut? Anything but simple. In fact, it included some seriously unhinged pitches. One of which had Deadpool straight-up replacing Loki in Thor 2. And we’re not talking about just a parody scene. The original plan almost committed to remaking half the movie before swerving somewhere else entirely.

25 Years After, Hugh Jackman’s First Ever Fight Sequence as Wolverine is Still One of the Best Introductions in Marvel
Image
If there’s one thing that the Marvel Universe has been praised for over the years, it’s casting all the right actors for all the right roles. This is especially true when the talk is about Hugh Jackman’s casting as Logan aka Wolverine, which might as well be acknowledged as one of the most goated decisions from the higher-ups ever.

In fact, while his performance in the respective role is one to gain significant acclaim and recognition for being top-notch, even his introduction to the live-action lore was nothing short of epic. If anything, Jackman’s first-ever fight sequence as the beloved mutant is still regarded among the best introductions in Marvel to date.

Image
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning China Box Office Pre-Sales Day 6 (Photo Credit –Facebook)

Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is opening in China tomorrow. It is one of the biggest markets overseas. Mi 8’s strong debut in China will undoubtedly boost the film’s collection worldwide and help it achieve its goal in the long run. The film has already amassed over $200 million globally and is eyeing a strong debut at the Chinese box office.

The last installment in this 29-year-old franchise might leave with a grand celebration, earning a record number at the box office. However, it is too soon to predict the film’s financial future at this point, as a lot can happen in the upcoming weeks and when new movies are released. But there is no film with as huge a star as Tom Cruise in recent weeks, hence it has the chance...

10 Little Known Facts About Hugh Jackman
Image
When you think of Hugh Jackman, Wolverine claws, the intense stare, and that iconic growl are probably what come to your mind first. And fair enough. He did play one of the most legendary superheroes of all time for nearly two decades. But if you think that’s all there is to him, buckle up, you’re in for a surprise.

Hugh Jackman is the ultimate triple threat: action star, Broadway-level singer, and rom-com heartthrob. One minute he’s battling mutants in X-Men, the next he’s belting his heart out in The Greatest Showman or breaking hearts in Les Misérables. He’s got the range, the charm, and the kind of career most actors only dream about. But what really sets him apart? He’s just effortlessly cool. The kind of guy who could host the Oscars and make you cry in a musical, all before his morning coffee.

As Comic Book Movies Scale Back Releases, Marvel and DC Look to This Summer to Decide the Future of Superhero Cinema
Image
It’s easy — really, too easy at this point — to proclaim that the era of superhero movie is over. As the start of this month, Marvel’s “Thunderbolts*” opened to some of the strongest reviews the Marvel Cinematic Universe has received in years, and yet, by the end of May, it will have earned less domestically ($174 million to date) than 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” did in its opening weekend ($187 million). Last week, Marvel Studios announced that it was pushing “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars” from May to December of 2026 and 2027, respectively, while pulling three other untitled Marvel projects set to open within that same timeframe from the schedule entirely. The former decision will allow directors Joe and Anthony Russo more time to marshal two of the biggest, most expensive feature films ever made. The latter decision is pure commerce, an easing of supply in response...

Rumor: Ryan Reynolds' X-force Movie Leads Possibly Revealed (And There Are Some Big Surprises)
Image
Earlier this month, we learned that Deadpool & Wolverine writer and star Ryan Reynolds is in the early stages of writing a new Deadpool movie that will see the Merc with a Mouth paired up with "three or four" X-Men characters.

The idea is that Wade Wilson would be a supporting player in a project which will be separate from the X-Men reboot being written by Michael Lesslie for Marvel Studios. Reynolds is currently working independently from the studio, so it hasn't been officially greenlit (it's also no secret that Kevin Feige turned down several of his Deadpool 3 pitches).

The trades broke the news about Reynolds' plans, while social media scoopers later claimed to have learned that it's an X-Force—or, at the very least, X-Force-inspired—movie.

Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH is reporting that Josh Brolin's Cable and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will both be on this team.

Poster for National Geographic’s ‘Underdogs’

Ryan Reynolds (Welcome to Wrexham) narrates and Green Day provides the theme song for National Geographic’s nature series Underdogs, which just debuted an official trailer. The series celebrates overlooked and underappreciated wild creatures and will premiere on National Geographic on June 15, 2025 at 9pm Et/Pt.

“Getting to work with National Geographic on Underdogs was a dream come true—mostly because I can finally watch a project of ours with my children. Technically, they saw Deadpool & Wolverine but I don’t think they absorbed much while covering their eyes and ears and screaming for two hours,” said Ryan Reynolds. “We’re so proud to elevate the unsung heroes of the natural world to the top of the entertainment food chain and can’t wait for everyone to see.”

Reynolds serves as an executive producer along with Mark Linfield, Vanessa Berlowitz, Dan Rees, George Dewey,...

Discussion: What Is One Disliked MCU Movie You Actually Like/Don’t Think Deserves The Hate?
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a large tapestry of films (and TV series). Focusing on the big-screen side, since its inception, the ambitious superhero universe has experienced something many other franchises in Hollywood have not: quality consistency. With over 30 films and counting, the MCU has typically enjoyed a healthy amount of critical acclaim, which has allowed it to turn increasingly obscure characters into household names.

However, not everything has been a bed of roses for Marvel Studios — particularly in recent years. A considerable amount of its theatrical releases have been either divisive or downright critical duds. Yet, it's safe to say we've all experienced this — we watch a movie that's largely disliked, and we find ourselves liking it to an extent... maybe even enjoying it.

So, I thought it appropriate to ask the question: What's one MCU movie that's disliked/hated, but you actually appreciate? Now, the universe is comprised of 36 films,...

Ryan Reynolds Focuses On 'Superzeroes' In New Nat Geo Nature Series
Image
Ryan Reynolds' new Nat Geo nature series is going where no other nature series has gone before. It's taking a deep dive into the bottom of the food chain.

A new trailer for Underdogs features nature's "Superzeroes" and a theme song by Grammy Award-winning band Green Day. The Deadpool & Wolverinestar narrates and executive produces the five-episode series that celebrates the "losers" of nature's food chain. Underdogs will focus on the "bizarre mating strategies, surprising superpowers, deception, dubious parenting skills, and gross-out behaviors," of various wild animals, the official description via The Hollywood Reporter reads.

"For over 135 years, National Geographic has gone to the ends of the earth to bring you the most stunning footage of nature ever put to film," Reynolds says in the clip. "But enough with the top of the food chain. It's time to shift our focus to the bottom. I've teamed up with Nat Geo to...

Avengers: Doomsday Doctor Doom, X-Men Details Leak; [Spoiler] Will Be Marketed As Main Spider-man 4 Villain
Image
Earlier this month, it was reported that Disney had shown a brief sizzle reel for Avengers: Doomsday and concept art for Spider-Man: Brand New Day at a Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation in Las Vegas.

Reddit's Pomojema_The_Dreamer (who also writes for Star Wars News Net) has now shared more potential details from the event, supposedly from that original leaker. While this information can't be verified, it's gaining traction on social media, and there's nothing here that's too hard to believe.

Avengers: Doomsday reportedly begins in Wakanda, with Shuri, Namor, and M'Baku all donning new costumes. The Sentinels we've seen scattered in front of the X-Mansion are said to be under Doctor Doom's control, with the X-Men—joined by Deadpool, Gambit, Shang-Chi, and the Invisible Woman—forced to fight them.

As previously reported, the mutant team's costumes are now comic-accurate rather than the unpopular black leather outfits used in Bryan Singer's movies.

Avengers: Doomsday Set Photo Seems to Place a Black Panther Character In a Forbidden Location
Image
Avengers: Doomsday remains shrouded in mystery as production on the superhero crossover movie continues to move forward. A new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Doomsday has now offered the fandom some clues regarding a certain character's fate.

Newton Thomas Sigel, the cinematographer for Citadel, Candy Cane Lane, and the upcoming Doomsday, recently shared a set photo on his Instagram account with the caption, "Bahrain Crane Porn." While all the individuals in the photo have a shadow cast over them, making it hard to identify anyone, Marvel fans strongly believe that Winston Duke's M'Baku is in the bottom left corner of the image, holding his staff. Check out the Doomsday set photo below.

Ryan Reynolds Introduces Nature's Greatest 'Underdogs' in New Docuseries Trailer
Image
Move over, lions, sharks, bears, and wolves, because National Geographic is about to shine a light on some of the underappreciated creatures that inhabit our world with a little help from Ryan Reynolds. The official trailer for Underdogs has been released, and it offers a brief look at the animals with unconventional features and approaches to life that will be explored throughout the fun and freaky five-part docuseries. Announced back in 2023, the project features the Deadpool & Wolverine star as its narrator, giving a new voice to the outcasts that keep nature functioning, even if they're a little gross or strange. These animals will get their first chance to shine on Nat Geo on June 15 at 9 p.m. Et, with ABC simulcasting the first episode to get viewers interested.

Underdogs is billed as an original take on the nature documentary, with each episode highlighting a different feature that makes its selection of animals so unique.

Ryan Reynolds Celebrates Nature’s Losers in Nat Geo’s ‘Underdogs’ Trailer (Exclusive)
Image
Ryan Reynolds is a proven winner, as is his soccer team Wrexham A.F.C. (ever since he and Rob McElhenney bought the club). Reynolds’ new National Geographic show, however, celebrates nothing but the Earth’s biggest losers.

Underdogs, a five-episode series narrated and executive produced by Reynolds, showcases animals on the very base level of the food chain, the kind with “bizarre mating strategies, surprising superpowers, deception, dubious parenting skills and gross-out behaviors,” per Nat Geo. This will be stuff you’ve never seen before — on Nat Geo or elsewhere — like a cave in New Zealand that “glows brighter than a bachelor pad under a black light thanks to the glowing butts of millions of mucus-coated grubs.”

Harry Gregson-Williams composed the show’s music — that’s nice. But somehow, Reynolds got Green Day to write and record the show’s theme song. Naturally, it rocks.

Green Lantern's Director Believes Ryan Reynolds Could Have Saved The Movie With One Move
Image
The reputation of Martin Campbell's 2011 superhero flick "Green Lantern" precedes it. "Green Lantern" was one of the more high-profile bombs of its decade, making $237 million on a $200 million budget. Although the Hal Jordan/Green Lantern character had been a part of DC Comics since 1959, he was still a tough sell to mainstream audiences, given how strange he was.

Briefly: the Green Lantern belongs to the Green Lantern Corps, a widespread intergalactic peacekeeping force of aliens that merrily sails around the cosmos righting wrongs. The members of the Corps are "selected" by semi-sentient rings that affix themselves randomly to their fingers and grant them bizarre superpowers. Green Lantern can fly, yes, but also construct physical objects ... out of the color green. Oh yes, and green is the color of willpower, and the other colors of the spectrum also have their own emotional powers behind them. The mythology runs deeper, of course,...

Chris Evans' Forgotten Superhero Thriller Finds New Success on Streaming 16 Years Later
Image
Chris Evans is a beloved figure in the superhero genre thanks to his portrayals of Captain America and, to a lesser extent, Johnny Storm/Human Torch throughout his career. However, fans forget that Evans starred in an often-forgotten superhero effort that has renewed interest thanks to streaming as Push emerges on the charts 16 years after its theatrical run.

Per Collider, Push is pulling no punches in its fight for streaming supremacy, landing on free streamer Tubi's top 10 movies chart this week. Push, which sees Evans star alongside Dakota Fanning, Djimon Hounsou and Camilla Belle, is in the #6 spot on Tubi's list at the time of writing.

Following his successful run as Human Torch in Marvel's 2005 iteration of Fantastic Four and 2007's Rise of the Silver Surfer, Evans featured in Summit Entertainment's Push in 2009, directed by Emmy-nominated helmer Paul McGuigan. Evans stars as Nick Gant in Push, an untrained Mover...

Marvel star almost had his own character killed off in beloved MCU movie
Image
For the longest time, the death of really big heroes wasn't a thing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, fans witnessed how characters like Vision, Groot, and Phil Coulson bit the dust in a specific project, but they all eventually returned one way or another. Quicksilver was one of the unlucky few who really stayed out of the picture for many years without any plans for a potential revival. However, all of that changed the day Avengers: Endgame premiered.

Earth's Mightiest Heroes' latest adventure acted as the perfect farewell for fan-favorites such as Iron Man, Black Widow, and Steve Rogers' Captain America. Since that day, audiences learned that no one is truly safe in the MCU anymore, which will especially hold true the closer we get to the end of the Multiverse Saga. Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will undoubtedly mark the final appearances of many big characters,...

Hugh Jackman’s Sensational Showbiz Musical Finally Returns to Streaming After Grossing Five Times its Budget
Image
If you ask a handful of people what Hugh Jackman is best known for, most would understandably say playing Wolverine. However, there would likely be a few non-comic book fans in the bunch who would say his most notable role is P.T. Barnum. Jackman stars as The Greatest Showman, P.T. Barnum, in the 2017 film of the same name, which is still viewed as some of his most famous work. Currently absent from streaming, Prime Video has announced that The Greatest Showman is coming to the platform on June 1. The film was met divisively upon release, earning a “rotten” 56% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience-driven Popcorn meter lands at a much more satisfactory 86%, just short of earning the fabled “verified hot” label.

Despite not being particularly well-received by critics upon release, The Greatest Showman grossed $469 million at the global box office, more than five times its reported budget of $84 million.

Ryan Reynolds Confirms the Massive Marvel Death They Considered for Deadpool & Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine features the well-received debut of Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing his unconventional, button-pushing approach to the Multiverse Saga. However, Reynolds claims the Merc With a Mouth nearly got shut up for good in the superhero blockbuster.

However, featuring the classic single, "Like a Prayer," from pop icon Madonna changed the film's tone, leading to the idea getting dropped. "Finally figuring it out — I am such a needle-drop person, but I’m really working hard to embrace score. It was...

Ryan Reynolds Reveals That 'Deadpool & Wolverine's Original Ending Would Have Killed a Major X-Men Character
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine helped to usher in a new age of Mutants in the MCU, while saying goodbye to Fox's X-Men timeline. At the end of the movie, Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) and Logan's (Hugh Jackman) MCU futures were left open, with fans now desperate to know if they will return to the big screen in the future. But, Ryan Reynolds recently revealed that the original ending for Deadpool & Wolverine would have been much different, and Marvel fans would have been very upset.

Ryan Reynolds recently appeared on The Box Office Podcast to promote the fourth season of Welcome to Wrexham and discussed the 2024 smash-hit, Deadpool & Wolverine. During the conversation, Reynolds addressed Deadpool & Wolverine's emotional ending, which saw Logan try to sacrifice himself, only to survive and walk off into the sunset. But, it turns out that the other immortal X-Men character was originally the one who would have died in the movie.

It stars Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, Olga Kurylenko, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Featuring an ensemble cast of antiheroes and villains, the film deals with themes of mental health, self-worth, and finding a greater purpose.

The Marvels likewise featured three central leads: Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau/Photon, and Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. It simultaneously acted as a sequel to Captain Marvel, WandaVision, and Ms. Marvel. Though both The Marvels and Thunderbolts* received fresh critic scores on Rotten Tomatoes, their financial fates are less similar.

"There Was Always The Thought Of Killing Deadpool:" Ryan Reynolds Reveals He Almost Killed Off Wade Wilson In Deadpool & Wolverine
Image
Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds recently explained that Wade Wilson/Deadpool was not originally supposed to live through the film's events. In addition to Reynolds, the movie also featured veteran Marvel star Hugh Jackman as Logan/James Howlett/Wolverine. Though it is set in the multiverse of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Deadpool & Wolverine is less Deadpool's MCU debut than it is a farewell to the Fox X-Men films both title characters originated from. As the third Deadpool movie, it also serves to conclude the Merc With a Mouth's arc.

In an appearance on The Box Office Podcast, Reynolds explained how Wade's story almost ended differently and why it didn't:

There’s always the thought of killing Deadpool in the last one. Again, it’s like listening to the movie. Me, [editors] Shane Reid, Dean Zimmerman, and [director] Shawn Levy must have reworked that third act for 45 days straight.

Defenders Twist or Fake Leaks? Marvel May Be Using Genius ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Trick to Save ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ After TikTok Leak
Image
Marvel’s greatest superpower might not be vibranium suits or time travel, it’s keeping secrets and dropping surprises like confetti at a multiverse party. From Nick Fury’s first post-credit appearance to Spider-Man’s surprise returns, Marvel knows how to keep fans guessing (and gasping). But with Deadpool & Wolverine, the studio took things to another level.

Well, we all know now that they intentionally planted fake leaks and used real-life misdirection just to throw fans off the scent of their surprise cameos. Call it MCU sleight of hand, but it’s working, and fans are eating it up like shawarma after a battle.

Now, rumor has it Marvel might be pulling the same trick to protect the biggest movie in the next phase: Avengers: Doomsday. Because when a fan’s unauthorized footage from the set recently landed on TikTok, people started wondering, was this a real leak or another Marvel mind game in action?...

Thunderbolts* North America Box Office Day 22: Collects Winning Numbers On 4th Friday, Despite Losing 780 Theatres
Image
Thunderbolts* North America Box Office Day 22 Update ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts* is holding its ground firmly amid the heavyweight new arrivals. The New Avengers is maintaining a steady run at the US box office, collecting $164.6 million so far. Florence Pugh and Lewis Pullman starrer movie lost a harsh number of screens in the US this week. It missed the domestic haul of Eternals by a hair-thin margin, but it is happening only on its 4th weekend. Keep scrolling for the deets.

The New Avengers is suffering probably because of the bad reputation some of the previous MCU movies earned. However, it has excellent ratings from critics and viewers. Mission: Impossible—The Final Reckoning and Lilo & Stitch’s dominating presence can already be sensed at the US box office, which will impact greatly on the MCU film’s theatrical collections. Crossing the $200 million mark globally seems unlikely at this point.

3 of the Last 4 Marvel Movies Have Been Stone Cold Duds
Image
Marvel Studios, once the gold standard of box office dominance, is facing a major identity crisis. While the studio still boasts one of the most expansive cinematic universes ever created, its recent streak of releases tells a different story. After over a decade of success, culminating in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, the last two years have shown a stark downturn in audience engagement and financial performance.

The shine is starting to wear off. And, with only one out of its last four movies considered a runaway success, fans and industry insiders alike are beginning to ask if the Marvel magic is finally wearing thin.

After a decade of dominance in the 2010s, capped by Avengers: Endgame, which grossed over $2.7 billion and became one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, the MCU‘s recent outings have struggled to replicate that magic.

Ryan Reynolds Considered Killing Deadpool in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ but Marvel Disagreed
Image
As fans look forward to Ryan Reynolds’s appearance in a future instalment of the MCU, he reveals that Deadpool could’ve died in the previous film. Reynolds shared that he initially wanted to kill off the death-defying Merc With a Mouth in Deadpool & Wolverine. However, Marvel Studios was totally against that plan, and Reynolds had to scrap it.

Since the character had super healing powers, Reynolds and the Deadpool 3 team had to come up with a really creative way to kill off the character. He revealed that the plan was to deatomize the anti-hero in the film, which would’ve been a brutal way to go even for Deadpool.

Hot Take: Warner Bros Should Be Worried About Timothée Chalamet’s Dune 3
Image
Uh oh, it looks like Warner Bros and Timothée Chalamet’s Dune 3 is in a bit of a pickle.

Ever since Dune: Part 2 rolled into theaters last March, fans were left asking for more, wondering when Denis Villeneuve would return with more. Luckily for them, the story of Paul Atreides is not over yet, and the franchise is all set to come out with a third instalment to the franchise.

However, it looks like Marvel Studios’ recent move might make things difficult for Warner Bros. A blockbuster curveball has entered the ring, and it could throw a wrench into Dune‘s carefully crafted plans. The question is: can this epic sci-fi saga hold its ground against the superhero universe’s Megalodon?

Ryan Reynolds: My R-Rated Star Wars Movie Pitch Isn’t ‘Vulgar’
Image
Ryan Reynolds has an R-rated Star Wars pitch, and it’s not what you folks would expect. As per a report released on May 23, Reynolds floated a concept that leans mature without diving into vulgar territory. It’s less about shock and more about tone, offering a grittier lens.

As Star Wars explores darker storytelling via projects like Andor, there could be space for something a little edgier. Reynolds isn’t aiming to break the universe, just maybe bend the rules a tad bit. Here are more details.

Ryan Reynolds wants grit, not gore, in his R-rated Star Wars pitch to Disney Ryan Reynolds in The Change-Up | Credits: Universal Pictures

Ryan Reynolds has pitched Disney an R-rated Star Wars project, and nope, it’s not full of F-bombs or lightsaber decapitations. Instead, he’s aiming for something deeper – grit, not gore.

On The Box Office podcast, Reynolds revealed his offbeat...

Ryan Reynolds Laments Disney Rejecting His R-Rated Star Wars Movie Pitch
Image
Ryan Reynolds is the man who made Disney R-Rated. His MCU film Deadpool & Wolverine was the first MCU flick to have that age rating, and it was a huge success. So it's only natural that he should try and capitalize on it...and that's extended to pitching Disney an R-rated Star Warsmovie.

Reynolds has never appeared in the Star Wars franchise before, but he thinks it could use a little more maturity. “I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated Star Wars property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters,'" he said on the Box Office podcast with Scott Mendelson, via Variety. Indeed, it would be very hard for most to imagine Baby Yoda, aka Grogu, in an R-rated movie.

"There’s a wide range of characters you could use," Reynolds went on. “And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar.

R-Rated 'Star Wars' Film Pitched by 'Deadpool' Star Ryan Reynolds
Image
As Deadpool & Wolverine star Ryan Reynolds contemplates his own X-Men team-up film, it appears the actor-writer is keen on taking his R-rated sensibilities to the Star Wars universe. Reynolds went directly to Disney and pitched a project set in the long-standing sci-fi franchise that would be R-rated. In a world in which Andor exists, perhaps Reynolds' ideas are not too far off from a possible reality.

While on The Box Office podcast, Ryan Reynolds revealed that he pitched an R-rated Star Wars film to Disney. No, it was not a Deadpool-esque film with major Star Wars characters. Instead, it appears Reynolds wanted to do a mature, low-key story in a galaxy far, far away. It does not seem the idea much further than the pitching floor, but Reynolds makes a good case for why Disney should take the "gamble" on an R-rated project.

Ryan Reynolds at an event for Deadpool 2 (2018)
Ryan Reynolds pitched Disney an R-rated Star Wars property that could take the franchise in a bold, mature direction
Ryan Reynolds at an event for Deadpool 2 (2018)
It’s a fact that when Ryan Reynolds has an idea, there’s typically someone in Hollywood willing to listen. Throughout his storied career, he’s bent the MPA’s R-rating to his will, even convincing Disney, of all studios, to host an ultra-violent MCU movie with Deadpool & Wolverine. Reynolds is seemingly unstoppable in many regards, so when he says he has an idea for an R-rated Star Wars property, the House of Mouse might want to be all ears.

In Friday’s The Box Office podcast episode with host Scott Mendelson, Reynolds said he pitched Disney an R-rated Star Wars project that could break the time-honored franchise wide open while not mucking with canon or primary characters.

“I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated “Star Wars” property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters. There’s a wide range of characters you could use,...

Ryan Reynolds Pitched an R-Rated ‘Star Wars’ Movie to Disney, but Not for Him to Star: ‘That Would Be a Bad Fit’
Image
Ryan Reynolds successfully delivered Disney its first R-rated MCU movie last year with “Deadpool and Wolverine,” but could he do the same thing for the “Star Wars” universe?

The “Deadpool” star revealed on Friday’s episode of “The Box Office” podcast with host Scott Mendelson that he has pitched an R-rated movie set in a galaxy far, far away.

“I pitched to Disney, I said, ‘Why don’t we do an R-rated “Star Wars” property? It doesn’t have to be overt, A+ characters. There’s a wide range of characters you could use,'” he said. “And I don’t mean R-rated to be vulgar. R-rated as a Trojan horse for emotion. I always wonder why studios don’t want to just gamble on something like that.”

There has never been an R-rated “Star Wars” movie or TV show before. The closest thing the franchise has would be its more mature “Andor” TV series,...

Ryan Reynolds Pitched A Star Wars Movie To Disney (With A Twist)
Image
It turns out that Ryan Reynolds, the man who made "Deadpool" into a multi-billion-dollar franchise for Marvel, once pitched a "Star Wars" movie to Disney. Reynolds helped make R-rated superheroes as popular as anything in all of pop culture with the first "Deadpool" film in 2016, which allowed for some reinvention within the genre. It seems he had a similar idea in mind when it came to a galaxy far, far away.

On the most recent episode of "The Box Office Podcast," host Scott Mendelson had an hour-long sit-down conversation with Reynolds that wasn't explicitly tied to the promotion of any project. So, during the freeform chat, they got to talking about R-rated genre fare, which is when Reynolds revealed that he actually pitched an R-rated "Star Wars" movie to Disney ... though, perhaps not along the lines of what one might expect. Here's what he had to say about it:

'Avengers: Doomsday' Casting New Ghost Rider According To MCU Rumor
Image
Avengers: Doomsday is already looking like the most ambitious Marvel Studios project of all time thanks to its illustrious call sheet. However, it appears that an extra chair or two will be needed, as the Avengers sequel is reportedly looking to recast one of Marvel's most iconic characters that has remained absent from the big screen since 2011's Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

While on The Hot Mic Podcast, industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed that he had heard that Marvel Studios is looking to cast Ghost Rider for Avengers: Doomsday. It appears that there are no plans to bring back Nicolas Cage's depiction of the character, or Gabriel Luna's Robbie Reyes from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. No names were mentioned as potential candidates. If the rumor is to be trusted, the Russo Brothers are looking at actors now to fill in for the iconic Marvel hero.

Avengers: Doomsday Set Photo Reveals Completed Sentinel Battlefield - But Is All As It Seems?
Image
Avengers: Doomsday is currently shooting in the UK, and the set we've been keeping you updated about for the past few weeks is finally complete.

As you can see, it appears to be the grounds of the X-Mansion in the wake of an epic superhero fight that's left Sentinel pieces strewn across the battlefield. Massive blue screens surround the practical set, as do shipping containers meant to keep the action away from prying eyes.

However, now we can see the entire thing, that strange metal construction on the bottom right-hand side has left us wondering if all is not quite as it seems.

Our theory is that this is the Danger Room; how better to introduce the returning X-Men than in an epic Sentinel battle that's been pulled straight from the pages of the comics? It's been a while, so establishing them as a formidable challenge for the Avengers and...

Hugh Jackman Teases Whether Wolverine Will Appear In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Image
With Wolverine’s recent addition to Disney’s MCU, Hugh Jackman is navigating questions about the character’s onscreen future.

Following his return to the role (aka Logan) in last year’s Deadpool & Wolverine, the Oscar nominee recently assured he “actually” has no news about whether he’ll slip on the Adamantium claws once again for Avengers: Doomsday.

“I really can’t say much, except when you say ‘appear,’ more like dominate and destroy every other character—I’m kidding,” teased Jackman on The View. “I really have nothing to add, and if I did, I would find a really cool way to not say it, but I actually have nothing to add.”

Jackman made his debut as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men, reprising the role in X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), The Wolverine (2013), Logan (2017) and Deadpool & Wolverine (2024).

Hugh Jackman Knows the Avengers: Doomsday Questions Are Coming
Image
All the Avengers films have been huge events in the MCU, but the stakes are even higher in 2026's Avengers: Doomsday. With a series of returning characters from the Marvel world, as well as many X-Men mutants, one question arises: is Wolverine joining them?

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine had taken a bow after 2017's Logan, but he reprised his role in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine, where he put on the suit of a different Wolverine from the multiverse. As both Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Jackman's Wolverine joined the MCU with the billion-dollar hit superhero film, the two are expected to join other superheroes soon, and 2026's Avengers: Doomsday marks the best occasion. During an appearance on The View, Hugh Jackman revealed how he deals with all the questions from Avengers: Doomsday.
