So... Where do I start? It's probably a bad sign that the standout from the film for me was the very question I pose in my title. The bridge in the forest they drive across, it looks an awful lot like one from rural western Pennsylvania that was featured heavily in the decent found footage flick "The Red Woods".
The acting is more wooden than the trees mentioned in the films title. All four leads are misogynistic stereotypes, circa a 1997 sitcom. The type of male characters who drink a bit too much, have a beer belly, and have zero charisma... But they always seem to have an overly attractive wife... You know the trope!
Also, this film overuses the ever awful and cliched "day for night" filter WAY too often. I thought I was watching an MST3K rerun as many times as I looked up from writing this review to see these guys stumbling about in the "darkness" of a blue tint laid over a fully day lit forest.
There's no spoilers... As I didn't even finish the film.

I wasn't expecting this to be great but it's actually a tense thriller/horror and you don't know where it's headed which is part of the appeal. Unlike a lot of indie horror movies, this one has decent actors with a lot of credits. Good performances and a fast pace. A bunch of guys go camping and then... craziness ensues. Enjoy it.
Ok , so I see most of the reviews here are bad , not sure why ...
It ticked all the boxes for me !
It was so refreshing to watch a movie with an all male cast for a change , don't see them that often .
It was very entertaining, and moved along quickly , with a nice touch of humour underlying all the time ! Especially from one character in particular, Josh , he was my favourite !
So , basically it's about four guys heading off to a cabin for a weekend , to do some male bonding and hunting , Steve the main guy , is having a bit of a marriage crisis , and is wanting to take some time out , it goes frome there and takes a few twists and turns along the way .
Stick with it , it's entertaining !

Well now, that was quite different to my expectations based on the blurb, and in a good way. I won't go into detail, but there's a bit of a twist that starts to unfold, and even then you're not sure of the why until a little while afterwards when some judiciously used flashbacks give you more of a picture.
It's surprisingly layered for this type of movie, and while the characters aren't always terribly likeable and we don't reeeeally get enough time to have a more developed relationship between them, the actors do quite well in establishing that they're longtime friends.
Overall I'd say give this a watch - you won't have wasted your time (as long as you don't go into it expecting some out and out monster fest). Even the ending has a little quirk to it!

There's a lot of areas this could've been improved I don't think the story is very strongly written and the individuals who do the acting are either trying to over act or are doing characters that are above their scope of their abilities.
