The film seemed very interesting by reading the synopsis. Discussing how such patients feel, the nature of their experiences and researching the subject deeper is very important. But the movie was boring for me.
Another thing worthy of a study is why people keep watching something they are not really enjoying. I knew the movie would be a waste of time after 30 minutes, but kept watching and regret it. I know many others want their lost time back. Go figure.

Certainly not a totally crappy film, but I probably could have used the time to watch something else. I could see it possibly breaking into the 6's, but a 7 rating kinda looks like somethings amiss.
Very dubious about the people leaving high ratings. Like watching paint dry. The non linear timeline instead of being used to good effect simply ruins the flow of the film. A review elsewhere sums it up perfectly:
"A pallid supernatural thriller more fascinated with being "non-linear" in narrative terms than you will be."
Had it been more than an hour and a half long, I would have given up. I persevered to the end and begrudge every wasted minute.

Hamilton's story, told in a non-linear style - mostly just standard flashbacks, has a lot of emotion and melodrama written into what is otherwise a stereotypical "paranormal transplant thriller". Not that it isn't a cool horror trope, and WDLB has some good moments in it, it is just a concept that never seems fully exploited to the movie's benefit.
The story moves to slow and there is way too much use of psuedo exlressionist visual techniques that - together- cause quality sceens to expand beyond necessary, creating loss of momentum. It exposes flaws in acting and dialog that with proper post attention could have spared "What Death Leaves Behind" a loss in suspense. The pace, focus on emotionality and over-tapped scenes keep this one from being as thrilling as it needed to be.
That being said, the film has some quality moments. For most of the film everything rides on newcomer Khalil McMillan's performance, and he does a good job. Actually the cast on a whole give stellar perfances during a lot of the film. Unfortunately though there is a lack of consistency and a few times the dialog is a mess. But again, there is some quality talent at work in front of and behind the scenes in WDLB.
As far as horror goes, this film never really reaches that level necessary to create the chilling nature of the story. It tries hard but suspense gets bogged down by emotional theatrics to often, and the surrealism is just too much at times. More attention should have been spent on action and stronger, edgy psychological elements. Film like "The Eye" and "Body Parts" did this premise better. Overall "What Death Leaves Behind" is one worth checking out, just go in without expectations.

Does a kidney have memory cells like the brain? The brain of the donor was declared dead while the kidney took over the memories from the dead brain and kept evolved during the transplant surgery. When it was planted in the receiver, the kidney would be immediately carried the torch of revenge, automatically manipulated the kidney receiver to do something for the dead donor and, if the guy who died violently got a violent history, would he signed up a donation consent for his body organs during his annual renewal of his driver license? I don't think so since he's not a charitable mankind.
What bothered me most is since when a kidney would carry all the memories, bad or good, from a person? If a kidney is like a part of a computer, or even a memory module, do you think when the computer suddenly dies or crashes, or even just shut down abruptly, the memory module or any part of the computer would still able to carry what the computer did before the crash? So, just tell me, do you think one or both of your kidney would carry all the secrets after your sudden demise and instruct the organ receiver to carry out a revenge mission? The kidney would give you nightmares if you refuse to do so. Where's the logic? If the premises won't hold and you still decide to watch this absurd movie, may God(even this guy actually doesn't exist) help you, man.
