This was right up my street. Love superheroes. I don't mind foreign films either, so this was a good choice. Not the best film ever, but interesting enough. The plot, acting and direction were all good. Some good twists along the way and quite funny at times. Not the best, but certainly not the worst. Good fun from the start.

This is an entertaining film that, for most of the reviews I've read by English-speaking critics, has been significantly misunderstood and underestimated. Some critics have complained abou the lack of wit that would make the film sharper and more interesting. However, a good amount of humor gets lost in translation. I'm not referring to English subtitles but rather the sociopolitical context of the Spanish (not the language but the country) experience. Spanish cinema often introduces criticism of the current sociopolitical situation by way of "zingers" at the most unexpected moments. For those of us that understand this, the film has plenty of intelligently developed humorous dialogue and situations that save it from important ot holes. Through twists and turns Origenes Secretos takes us on a trip of silly dialogues and gory crime scenes. Character development could have been better, but as the film enters the final stretch the characters make perfect sense. I'm hopeful that a sequel will be better developed and the plot tighter.

Unknown origins came literally out of nowhere and seeing that some critics give it a pretty positive score i gave it a try . Unknown origins is an original movie and I was hooked instantly from the first 20 minutes . It was so good and interesting and then after the first half the movie gets boring with so much unnecessary dialogue . And that leads to an even more dissapointing ending . This movie could be so good but it falls flat . Then there is some comedy with little jokes which were pretty funny . The acting is okay it's not the best . There is also the unnecessary romance which develops in the second half of the movie and came out of nowhere . This and many others parts were cringy really cringy . For example the drama in this movie , I never felt sad when i was supposed to . Let's go to the visual and practical effect part . At the first couple of minutes with the victims they were really good but by the ending it was like they run out of budget , it was AWFUL . The last scene of this movie was ridiculous really . By the end of this film you feel confused about what you watched . Was it a serious serial killer movie , was it a cheesy teen mystery comedy or was it a parody? I am going to give the first half of the film a 9/10 and the other half a 3/10 which leads me giving this film a 5/10. Should you watch it? Although it's an interesting movie , no because you will fill disappointed

Original , funny and amusing superhero movie dealing wth a serial killer who's spreading massacre , murders , mayhem and chaos throughout the capital of Spain . Anonymous people with no apparent connection are being murdered while imitating the first appearances of the most famous superheroes . David, a young policeman (Javier Rey) who has recently moved to Madrid to work as a Police Inspector , is forced to collaborate with troubled Jorge Elías (Brays Efe) . Jorge is an owner of a comic book shop that owns various personal items , among others . He's an endearing freakie who's obligated to colaborate with Police due to his large knowledge on comic books world . Furthermore , he's son of a veteran police (Antonio Resines) about to retirement who's the job colleague of David. The tracks will lead them through the Spanish capital, Madrid, and Jorge seems to be the only person who knows how to find the series killer .

A suspense thriller with superheroes overtone full of intrigue , emotion , surprise , thrills and plot twists . Concerning a twisted criminal intrigue in which each grotesque murder is a piece of a jigsaw puzzle resulting in fateful consequences . The film relies heavily on the bizarre personality of our starring and their peculiar ambient . As the main issue of the movie results to be the hard investigation and to unravel the tangled mess of clues along a twisted labyrinth and win the cat and mouse game against the troublesome criminal that attempts to manipulate them . In addition , it's a a peculiar buddy movie in which two offbeat characters join forces in order to solve a series of grisly killings designed by a disturbed criminal mind that recreates the secret origins of the classic superheroes . Director David Galán Galindo came up with the idea for the film for his fanatism on comic books , that'why he is an avid comic book fan, which was made apparent in this movie . As in comic books, the main characters have their identified color and several camera angles were chosen to simulate the comic book device of a frame around each scene . And being really influenced by Night Shyamalan trilogy : "Unbreakable" , ¨Multiple¨and "Glass" . Many of the roles in the movie are named after notorious Spanish comic book publishers that have had the rights to publish DC , Marvel and others in Spain and México such as : Novaro editions , Vid , Vertice, Bruguera and Norma . And paying tribute to famous comic books authors , such as : Jerry Siegel , Joe Shuster , Stan Lee , Steven Ditko , Neal Adams and Denny O'Neil. Among the superheroes secret origins that inspired murders in this picture are the following ones : Spider-Man , Hulk , Iron Man , Green Lantern, Batman , Fantastic Four , Human Torch , and the X-Men . Enjoyable main and support cast , such as : Javier Rey is fine as David, a young Inspector who has a dark past that will be essential in helping them solve the enigma hidden behind the awful killings ; while Brays Efe is mediocre as Jorge , a fatty young who has encyclopedic knowledge about the comic world , as well as Verónica Echegui who is nice as the outlandish and fiery police chief . Here stands out the prestigious secondaries as the always great Antonio Resines as a good-tempered, elderly police , Ernesto Alterio as a forensic examiner , Carlos Areces , Álex García and special mention for Leonardo Sbaraglia .

It displays a thrilling and suspenseful musical score by Federico Jusid . As well as a colorful and brilliant cinematography by cameraman Rita Noriega. The motion picture was well written/directed by David Galán Galindo and based on his own novel . He's a good craftsman , a fine writer/producer/filmmaker who has made some films such as : Gora Automatikoa , Pixel Theory , Al final todos mueren and several Shorts. Rating : 6.5/10. Well worth watching.

"Unknown Origins" is a Spanish crime fighting cocktail with a "kick" and lots of "punch" that really delivers on all fronts.

This flick is perfect blend of unashamedly shlocky superhero stick and crime drama that just works. The clever cross over between the world of real crime fighting and the imagined world of crime fighting super hero's, draws this tale neatly into one very watchable package.

Acting is top notch, as are characterisations and story. The only downside is the speed at which dialogue is delivered, making it hard at times to keep up, if, like me, you need to read the subtitles (the film is in Spanish).

Nonetheless, its been a while since I've enjoyed a film this much.

Great stuff.
