This documentary, made mostly in Rio de Janeiro, shows the rise of fundamentalist Christian politicians in Brazil and the opposition from the left, feminist movement, adepts of African-derived religions, and, with increased focus in the film, from LGBTQ+ activists. The movie follows opposite sides in this struggle through dramatic moments which changed Brazilian politics towards authoritarianism: polarized 2014 general elections, the election of Eduardo Cunha as Chamber of Deputies speaker, and the beginning of the impeachment process against president Dilma Rousseff which led to 2016 coup. Despite being a little disorganized (a fault in the script), the film has the great merit of showing, besides valuable footage, key testimonies from top representatives of both sides. MP Jean Wyllys and Luiz Antonio Simas gave the brightest interviews, both very useful for understanding deeply the problem. On the authoritarian and reactionary side, then MP and upcoming president Jair Bolsonaro, and many of the main charismatic Christian MPs from Brazil expressed very openly their fundamentalist view and their prejudices. The documentary could be improved but deffinitely worth watching.
