Most of this show is enjoyable. It's a warm funny series with some laugh out loud moments and some touching parts too. The dialog is well written. All told with a comic tone that keeps things light and entertaining and moving along. The story has some familiar plot devices like the birth secret but they are handled freshly. There are a few faults. Some of the acting cute segments were annoying and there was an out of place small twist in the end. But I looked forward to each episode. And you get a lot of closure with a complete ending.
The cast is great. Namkoong Min acts the comic romantic part well here. He played a villain to perfection the year before in Remember War Of the Son. What a difference. Bang MinAh of GIrl's Day does a great job at acting as the plain girl with a lovable personality - so different from her K Pop persona. On Joo Wan as the kind Jun Soo is quite likable. The parents of Gong Shim and the cousin Jun Soo are quite funny and well cast too and may be familiar to K drama fans. The villains are good too like the selfish sister.
Another very enjoyable show "My Love by My Side" has a slightly similar comic vibe and birth secret and features some of the same cast like grandmother and On Joo Wan.

A girl overshadowed by her sister and overlooked by her family suffers from alopecia due to the stress and wears a bob shaped wig to conceal this fact. She rents her rooftop apartment above her parents house to an unconventional lawyer who at first she believes is a gangster. This is the set up for the romance side of this series but along the way we have a love triangle, a jealous sister, kidnapping and attempted murder. A light hearted romantic comedy superbly acted by the cast particularly Minah (Girls Day) who plays Gong Shim the girl with a wig whose voice and diction I find attractive. May have benefitted from being condensed a little but overall an enchanting series.
This series really got on my nerves. Why the hell did they dragged it on to 20 episodes? They could finished it in half.
It started out very funny and light hearted but it became exhausting. The thrilling part was nerve racking not because of the suspense but because every episode something came up causing the culprit from not revealing.
The whole second part of the series is about finding the kidnapper so the romance between An Dan-tae and Gong Shim disappeared to the background and with that the funny, light hearted vibe of the series.
Luckily the last episode became "normal" again, although it missed one important event...

Justice for Jun-su. They did him dirty for the sake of drama and filler. Poor guy didn't even get the girl. It was clear from the get-go that he wouldn't, and I hoped he wouldn't get THAT consolation prize.
Anyway, came here hot off the heels of Chief Kim and I can clearly see the seeds of that character in Nam-koong Min's mannerisms here, so I was a little disappointed by that tbh.
But the drama is clearly a product of its time - long, bloated, there's chaebols, inheritance issues, some murder, rich man - poor girl dynamic, iron lady type grandmother, the lot. Had I seen it a few years ago, like among my first kdramas, I probably would've loved it, there's a lot to love if you haven't seen many of these. Otherwise it gathers pretty much all of the tropes, except the leading men here are not that objectionable as they used to be in the past, so that's a positive.
Gong Shim is a sweet girl and I really liked the feisty side of her. I was disappointed when that went away, only to reappear here and there. Also, only in kdrama is this girl considered unattractive. Even with that wig she's very pretty. She's got self-esteem issues but I got tired of her woe is me attitude and the constant failures that are plaguing her. Her parents are very unsupportive, unlike with her sister. Her own sister undermines her at every step and I was upset she never gets her comeuppance for all the awful things she did to Gong Shim. She only confesses to her misdeeds in the last episode, but not to her sister, who got her chances taken away from her. Of course that was serving the plot cause Gong Shim had to suffer all sorts of indignities and setbacks to find her way to Dan-tae somehow. That's what happens when you have to fill in twenty episodes. As for Dan-tae I hated how he backtracked on his feelings for some stupid reason that would never hold up and he hurts her and by the time he "accepts" that he can no longer hold it in I was no longer rooting for him at all. And that year abroad of no contact is again such a damn trope, together with ensuing misunderstandings I'm just tired of him. Granted, this was made literally ten years ago but come on... I really liked about eight episodes of this (kind of how it happens with most dramas that I'm not satisfied with), then I started to take breaks from it, my interest in it came and went and I struggled in the second half when they were scapegoating Jun-su and concentrating on the murder-mystery part. That took way too long and basically in the last episodes I was just going through the motions, waiting for things to happen as you'd expect them to. They throw in a couple of twists towards the end just so you don't get bored but I kind of resented that too.
I started this drama sometime in the winter and I willed myself to finish the last three episodes today. So I kind of have a love-hate feeling toward it cause there was a lot to love in the beginning that didn't pan out. I'm tempted to give it a lower rating cause of my frustrations with it but objectively speaking it's mid, like most of them.

Show was good around 12 episodes then it dragged on without much substance and very little story and should have ended with 16 episodes.
Male lead is like a sloth character in zootopia. He speaks with the speed of 0.5 X . Romance buildup with cat and mouse fight was good in the beginning later after confession there were no chemistry at all from Male lead .
Writers clearly pulled punches in portraying the negative roles and all is forgiven at the end is kinda lazy writing. Evil sister characters had a happy ending doesn't sit well with me.
Female lead was absolutely gorgeous whenever she takes off her wig and look like a totally a different person . I liked her a lot without wig.
Male lead acting a okay in the beginning episodes after 12th episode he became like how he acts in every other drama he is in. He is the great let down . He is fit for negative roles as how he acted in "The girl who see scents"
Eventhough this story has been completely squeezed out its juice from every other drama that comes out. It could have a made it interesting with a screenplay but fail to do so.
I had to fast forward most of the ending episodes.
One time watch, does not present much of any rewatch value.
