Recensioni in evidenza
Siddharth Malhotra is somebody I lost faith in after Ek Villain when it comes to acting and it can become as basic as it can get. The trailer had zero expectations for me thinking that this could be another box office flop of 2017.
So a sales executive named Gaurav Kapoor who resides in Miami and lives a very peaceful life. He buys a big house and holds a job at a firm. He is a neat freak as well as a perfectionist and drives a minivan must to the dismay of his girl like friend Kavya.
In another parallel story is a man named Rishi in a double role who works for an illegal agency called X who does dirty work for the government which is operated by Colonel. How these 2 people's stories collide and how it results in is basically what this film is about.
Quite to my surprise, this film is pretty decent based on its writing in some way as well as the action sequences. The first half until interval keeps the flow of the film consistent and unapologetic which made the film popcorn wise gripping but the 2nd half makes it too far-fetched and the ending just makes it too simplistically uneven which ruins a full potential script at about 25% of it.
The acting in the movie cracked eggs.
The tattoos in the movie on Siddharth's body managed to outdo his performance throughout the film.
Jacqueline Fernandez is phenomenal to look at. Bollywood films are definitely not her cup of tea and her command of Hindi is so notoriously annoying that it proves she can't act.
Suniel Shetty, what were you smoking before you came on set? He was great as a villain in Main Hoon Na and I had some expectation for this film because of him but he wasted potential.
The man who played Jignesh bhai was pretty good and he kept me laughing almost throughout the film but wish I knew the actor's name.
The music in the movie is borderline bad so that was something that made me cringe so much.
The action sequences in the film were perfectly executed especially the Home Depot fight which was quite interesting but yeah the editing needed some work because there were some scenes in the film which were shot unrealistically.
Overall, this movie is decent and does have a lot of flaws but it should do some justice to your weekend but based on my opinion, my rating for A Gentleman should fall in the one time watch category.
3/5- I like where the directors Raj and DK are going but needs more work in terms of casting.

I was completely taken by surprise by the time gap between the two places , which was interspersed in the first part, leading me to believe that there two characters with similar features, which is a common theme in hindi films. But it was not so. The fast action was good with editing. Sid was sincere, Jaq was good.
This movie has been directed very well with unpredictable turns. The subtle humour keeps you smiling. I am not in to much of the action films. Yet I enjoyed watching this movie. The music is good. The directors projected the characters well. And the cast did a good job. Jaquelin was good with her moves and her radiant energy. Overall, a very nice movie.
A Gentleman is another recent mainstream Bollywood movie I enjoyed a great deal. When I booked the ticket all I had in mind was "Hey, it's made by the same guys that made 99 and Shor in the City". After I booked I remembered, "Hey, didn't they also make Go Goa Gone and Happy Ending? Crap!" On the face of it, there was nothing else remotely promising. And the first 20 odd min had me regretting my decision with its wobbly pacing and stale humor. But then the movie started coming together, running multiple plot strands that (without spoilers) converged with a skillful timeline swerve that will either have you pleased or scratching your head going "समझ में नहीं आया". After that the movie is a tight and racy action comedy that stays within formula but milks it well. And Siddharth Malhotra is genuinely good in his part, exuding both toughness and self-deprecating humor. I've never seen any previous film of his but he generally seems to be cast as a depressed romantic fool a lot of the time. But here he conveys the ass-kicking buffed up hunk without it ever dipping into smug douchebag territory. The action sequences are immensely well done (including a nice riff on a Mission Impossible style heist, that includes rappelling down a glass-fronted tower building) and brutal hand to hand combat never gets old. Also the humor offers a continuous counterpoint to the violence (Amit Mistry seems to be continuing his role of Kuber from 99).
Sadly, like Jagga Jasoos, this is another cool movie that seems to be starved of an audience and likely to fizzle out pronto. Cinema on a weekend night was about a quarter full.

Decent movie with light hearted comedy & action. Jacqueline's acting is annoying, music is plus pt...you can watch it if you have nothing to do.

- QuizRumours spread during the production stages of the film that, it is a sequel to the 2014 film "Bang Bang!" It is due to director Siddharth Anand interview in which he suggested there could be a "Bang Bang! 2" with actor Siddharth Malhotra as the male lead. Even on the first day of the shoot, the filmmakers released pictures of Clapboard which reads "Not Bang Bang 2".
- BlooperWhen Gaurav/Rishi is pulling into the Home Depot parking lot, his Caravan suddenly has a Washington license plate.
- Versioni alternativeThe UK release was cut, the distributor chose to remove moments of strong violence in order to obtain a 12A classification. An uncut 15 classification was available.
