The New Edition Story

As a teen of the 80's, this was the ultimate in entertainment! The story was so wonderfully told. The entire cast was spot on. And the music...well, I don't even need to tell you! With the Face, Reid, Lewis and Jam flare, you know it's magic! So many moments brought a genuine smile to my face. Even the filler music was phenomenal. You will be blasted to the past and learn so much about this brotherhood. I loved these guys before (mistakes and all), but I adore them now! I'm certain I will watch this numerous times for the music alone. Any New Edition fan will not regret watching this!

BET has kicked off the year on a high. The production value and story telling at it's best, New Edition brings back memories for those who lived it, and bring new ones the new generation. Straight Out Compton set the tone. New Edition raised the bar. All the casting was spot on. All of the actors did a fantastic job in this movie. Everyone gave %100 to this project. The movie was able to fully engage in each band member's lives (with respect to late Whitney Houston) giving the audience time to nurture and care for everyone's story line. The scenes, feel and vibe were all breathtaking. Like Netflix's "Stranger Things", you will be sucked into the world and might end up watching the whole entire series. The New Edition Story is an instant classic. Can't wait to see what BET does next. Congrats to the network.

The New Edition Story was not a perfect TV show, but it was a perfect TV experience. It had just about every piece that a miniseries like that needs to have to make it feel weighty and worthwhile.It probably didn't hurt that the members of the group were producers on the miniseries. It has the ideal music group story line,It has the perfect group for this kind of thing,It has the neat little movie nerd tidbits in there. When It Was Over It felt like I'd been shoved out of a plane. I was 100 percent not expecting to feel that way about New Edition. Or any sort of way, really. It was right then that I realized how hard the show had worked to get to that point, and to draw out that specific response. It got me.I liked The New Edition Story a lot. Again: I didn't realize I felt that way until it was almost over — until it was almost too late, I suppose. But I guess that makes sense. And that might've even possibly been the point.

With regard to expectations, this TV biopic of New Edition exceeded those and so much more. From night 1 to night 3, there was a sense that this could go on forever, or at least a few more nights. If you were a New Edition fan growing up or love black musical history, this miniseries was for you. I honestly think that BET could have stretched it out to a full 13-episode series (1hr) like the ones on Netflix. The production was great and the musical choices were awesome because it had the REAL music unlike some of these other TV biopics (*cough-cough LIFETIME). Also this was one of the most authentic biopics to date because BET was able to get the real characters that were involved.

In short, watch this miniseries. You will NOT be disappointed. No spoilers here, just go watch the movie! 10/10

Should've been drowning in Emmys. Truly best biopic I've ever seen. Black excellence and a beautiful time to be alive and see it air live. Desperate for BET to make a vinyl for the cast recorded soundtrack.
