The Kids' Choice Awards have hired some serious muscle for their 2017 show.

WWE star John Cena will host this year's annual Nickelodeon awards broadcast in Los Angeles, the network announced on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old wrestler joins the ranks of past hosts, such as Blake Shelton, Will Smith and WWE-alum, Dwayne Johnson, in taking over the slime-tastic gig.

Meanwhile, Cena and more WWE superstars recently crossed over into the animated world with Surf's Up 2: Wavemania.

Everyone's favorite futuristic family travels back in time to team up with some of today's biggest WWE Superstars in! Following the success of Scooby-Doo! Wrestlemania Mystery, WWE Superstars Big Show, Alicia Fox, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Sheamus team up with George, Elroy and the rest of the Jetsons gang in order to save Orbit City from the wrestle-bot army in an all-new original movie. The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-Wrestlemania, co-produced by WWE Studios, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation, will be available on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 on Digital HD and on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, on DVD for $19.98/ $19.99 Srp, just in time for the excitement of this year's Wrestlemania 33.

In the midst of an exhibition match, a powerful snow storm freezes Big Show solid. One hundred years later, Big Show has finally thawed and is discovered by George Jetson. His first mission is to revive wrestling in 22nd century Orbit City.

Sony Pictures Animation debuted the second trailer for Surf's Up 2: Wavemania, a sequel to the 2007 hit Surf's Up. The trailer features WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker, Triple H, Paige and Mr. McMahon as the voices of The Hang 5, a world famous surf crew known for their extreme stunts and personalities. The studio debuted the first trailer for this adventure back in August, but today the studio unveiled more footage, while announcing that this movie is coming out on DVD and Digital on January 17th.

Next year, Sony Pictures Animation will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of its animated hit Surf's Up. What better way to kick off the celebration than with the release of a brand new sequel, Surf's Up 2: WaveMania. Earlier today, Sony and WWE Studios debuted the brand new trailer for this animated sequel, offering our first look at The Hang 5.

Cody Maverick, hungry for a new challenge, convinces an infamous big wave riding crew known as The Hang 5, voiced by WWE Superstars John Cena, The Undertaker, Triple H, WWE Diva Paige and Mr. McMahon, to let him join them on their journey to a mysterious surf spot known as The Trenches, where legend has it, they'll find the biggest waves in the world. Cody soon discovers that the life he left behind might be more heroic than what any death-defying wave has to offer. Surf's Up 2: WaveMania will be released...

In a move signaling an expansion of its output and increased year-round production across multiple platforms, Sony Pictures Animation announced today its slate through 2018 which includes five theatrical features, three television series and one direct-to-video movie. These projects include the previously-announced Spider-Man Animated Movie and the new Emoji movie, which is now entitled EmojiMovie: Express Yourself. Here's what Kristine Belson, President of Sony Pictures Animation, had to say in her statement.

"We are meaningfully stepping up our level of production, while creating an environment that fosters the best talent. Our goal is to enlarge our presence in the animation landscape with a uniquely diverse slate, and our strategy to get there is to let artists drive the movies creatively."
