Confusing

I'm not sure how the heck this movie got a 7 out of 10. It was boring. Very badly written. It was drawn out. Did I mention boring? It also made no sense. You'll get to the end and be like what????

What the heck?

This movie confused me and left me hanging at the end! Who was the little girl? What really caused the ladies to be in the warehouse? I guess I'll never know.... and neither will anyone else!!!!

A hole in none

I'm still trying to comprehend, if this was a movie, after viewing it last week. I know I'm the first to review this vile pile of garbage, and I hope I'm the last. This is bottom basement movie fare, it's director seriously needs to be knocked off. Ninety percent of the dialogue awful, some of it, so laughable, a three year old could written a better script. I never got to the end of this, as I really felt disturbed by what I'd seen. It's movie relies on a paper thin story, with a few "Are you serious moments?". Young women are kidnapped, shot up with drugs to make them junkie whores, where this bearded, very tubby prick, biker sort (and we don't see all of his face) makes money from their misery, and sells them off to potential buyers. The location is some sort of holding cell, downtown. The two main females, at first are real rivals, the young, loud feisty one, a Jennifer Lawrence, Juliette Lewis looking type, the other kind of butch, more wiser, refined. Don't get me wrong, the acting is really good, but amazingly this is the only good thing about it. The most disturbing section, is of course, is when a ten year old girl, is the latest victim, is brought in, and I really don't want to go any further with this. This would of undoubtedly be one of the worst film this year. I can't believe someone would have the nerve or audacity, to make something like this, in 2017, as this is an exercise in some of the most bottom basement film making, no pun intended. As least there was some decency in the storybook scene, which kind of threw me, in light of all the heartlessness of what preceded. The video camera mounted on a number of embedded license plates was a stylish touch. Stay away from the hole. 0.5/10

Awful film

This movie was terrible in EVERY sense of the word. The writing was crap. The acting was decent at best, but could have been a lot better. The camera work was very amateur. The set looked quite cheap. And don't get me started on that ending. It seems that the writer/director tried to go for one of those ambiguous endings. Well, they failed! MISERABLY! The concept itself was pretty decent, but it underdelivered big time. Bottom line: This film is an example of a good on paper concept that just didn't deliver what it promised.

I was hoping for a more provocative or controversial ending.

-Hi everyone, Its Mr C Reviewer, The Movie we are here to talk about tonight is (Drum roll) Life in the Hole. In March of 2023, I had the opportunity to buy and watch the Movie on Prime Video, with a runtime of 1 hour 20 minutes. 'Life in the hole' was first released in the US January 31, 2017. The Movie was both directed and written by Tony Mendoza, with Jacob Blodgett and H. E. Joyce also contributing to the screenplay.

Summary

Amidst the desolate expanse of a remote warehouse, two rival prostitutes held against their will unite to rescue a young girl from the horrors of child sex trafficking.

Review

-As someone who values both visual and auditory components of a film, I appreciated the presence of subtitles throughout the entire movie. It allowed me to fully immerse myself in the story and better understand the dialogue. The film's use of a voice-over by the antagonist to explain the significance of the hole at the beginning I feel was an effective way to draw us, the audience in. In my opinion, the movie could have been improved if the writing was better. While the movie did raise some awareness about human trafficking, I do feel that there may have been room for improvement in terms of execution.

While the acting was decent overall, there were moments where it fell short and could have been better. Throughout the movie, I noticed that the makeup was impressive in some scenes, but lacked consistency in others. In my opinion the movie's subtle dim lighting not only provided adequate visibility but also complemented its overall tone. In one particular scene, the camera captures a view of the outdoors during a small rainstorm. However, the visual effects used to depict the rain I feel didn't achieve a high level of realism. The sound effects appeared to be excessively amplified, creating a perception of heavy and wet boots instead of the intended light footsteps on concrete.

While I appreciated the small glimpses into the characters' backstories and daily lives that the movie provided, I feel like it would have been even better if the characters had engaged in more direct conversations about their personal histories, aspirations, and dreams with the other victims. The movie utilized filters during flashbacks and drug-taking scenes to provide clarity, but I found it to be a detractor from the overall tone. It seems to me that there might have been an alternative way to convey what was happening, perhaps by showing both an objective view of the situation and the character's subjective perspective.

I found the setting of the movie to be convincingly realistic, and the predominant use of a single room as the primary location created a sense of confinement that effectively immersed us as viewers in the characters' experience. I appreciated the introduction of new characters throughout the movie, but I was expecting more individuals to be confined in the room considering its size.

-I think that I would have liked the movie more if the characters had worked collaboratively to bring down the main antagonist, while also fighting off other characters who were aligned with him. Additionally, I would have appreciated a greater emphasis on scenes depicting freedom within the movie. I was hoping for a more provocative or controversial ending, Although I sense that we may have had some clues about what occurred, I cannot be entirely certain. In my opinion, incorporating a scene featuring Carla entering the building at the beginning or end, along with a flashback, would have provided a more conclusive ending if my assumptions based on the hints were accurate.

For each Movie that I watch, I rate it out of 10 so for this am going to give it a 6.4 Remember this was what I thought about the Movie personally and I suggest that you give it a go for yourself.
