Never Go Back

I was so pleasantly surprised with this film. It's the kind of film that stays with you. I loved the story line. Great cast and the acting was superb. All the hard work you guys put into this movie really shows. I'd definitely see it again and suggest it to my friends. Bravo!!!!

When you watch at least 5, shall we call it, indie movies per week, your mind turns the filtering system all the way to 11 (a random reference intended). So, when your mind goes full filter mode, you automatically create an idea about the movie before you even watch it, and often it's not because you decided to do that.

So, here I was watching Never Go Back, just another fish in the sea. Reading the plot summary was enough to know what kind of music it will have, where will the movie go, what's the prevailing emotion in the movie and so on. And... now you're expecting the big BUT... but there is no big BUT. I was right, or should I say, my filtering system was right.

BUT, one thing it did get wrong: the movie wasn't boring. Although it guessed every single element correctly, the final conclusion was missed by a mile. And here is my question.

Just because you can presume the elements, does it mean you can guess the outcome? My answer is yes, but luckily, you can't always be right. And when you realize you're wrong it's the best feeling ever. Finally something new, finally something that sparked my intrigue and switched my mind from "filter mode" to "fascination mode". That's what Never Go Back did for me.

It's not about discovering new lands or god forbid, finding the meaning of life.

It's about finding a great movie which is exactly that, a great movie - nothing more and nothing less.

I mean, who would've thought just another fish in the sea is actually THE fish in the sea?

Give it a watch, you won't regret it.

This film is a thought provoking, emotional experience everyone can relate to. Excellent writing, solid story line, and talented actors take you on a very personal journey through the Florida wilderness. Philosophical undertones resonate through out the entire film highlighting the importance of simplicity while testing ideas and theories most of us can only dream about. Genuine chemistry between the actors and a superlative music score truly bring this story to life. I highly recommend Never Go Back, watching this film is certainly time well spent.

The profound understanding of the world often comes through experiencing films, books, and theater. I recently watched a film titled "Never Go Back," an intricate blend of concealments and police conspiracies in the United States. The storyline revolves around the pursuit of justice for the murder of two officers, unveiling a web of complex events orchestrated by internal forces. Released in 2016, the film takes the audience on a suspenseful journey through the intricacies of police investigations and hidden motives.

As the characters navigate through the convoluted plot, the film delves into the intricacies of police procedures and the hidden facets of justice. The narrative unfolds, revealing the layers of deception and manipulation that characterize the investigation. "Never Go Back" weaves a tale of suspense, highlighting the challenges faced by law enforcement in unraveling the truth.

Since I wrote, directed and edited Never Go Back, I am choosing to review the film's score for 2 reasons: 1. I had absolutely nothing to do with the score so I can provide feedback from a truly outside perspective and 2. I believe that original scores do not receive nearly enough credit for the quality they have the potential to add to a film if handled correctly, which Doctor Jones, who created the original score for Never Go Back, absolutely did.

First, it should be noted that nearly 2 hours of original instrumental compositions as well acoustic lyrical gems were completed in a time span shorter than 2 months. I feel the need to note this because I doubt it would ever be realized by simply hearing the score as it has the simple complexities of masterful pieces composed by renown orchestras.

The thought and consideration that went into every sound that was used is to be admired and is certainly appreciated by me as the director of the film. Doctor Jones understood the purpose of the story and masterfully amplified its intentions with driving tracks that dig their way into your psyche to cement the visuals and narrative of the film in a place deeper than most films are able to travel. It is an example of the perfect marriage between two forms of media - mutually complementing each other, creating a wonderful treat for the viewer to watch unfold.

Expect to hear more of Doctor Jones. This was his first original soundtrack and an experienced listener will quickly notice that only the surface of his abilities has been scratched - behind the matured talent that already exists, you can hear a world of diverse potential scratching beneath the surface.
