Exclusive: Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of Thieves) has landed a lead role opposite Noah Jupe in Play Dead, the new survival thriller from Carry-On‘s Jaume Collet-Serra described as Don’t Breathe meets 1917.

Further plot details remain under wraps, as do the roles of the duo. Production has just kicked off in Australia.

Peter Stanley-Ward & Natalie Conway penned the script for Play Dead, which Nocturnal will fully finance and produce alongside Ghost House Pictures, BoulderLight Pictures, and Bad Grey. Akiva Nemetsky and Keaton Heinrichs are producing for Nocturnal, along with Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert for Ghost House, Jd Lifshitz and Raphael Margules for BoulderLight, and Dane Eckerle for Bad Grey. Kaley Cuoco Gets Lost in France for New Prime Video Thriller ‘Vanished’...

While Kaley Cuoco is well known for playing the lovable Penny in The Big Bang Theory, she has been mesmerizing fans with a variety of roles, since. Next, she’ll be seen in a thriller series, Vanished, where she is looking for her missing boyfriend. The series has been pre-bought by Amazon for several territories to air on Prime Video.

The announcement was made with a new set picture as cameras are rolling in Paris and Marseille with Barnaby Thompson set to direct. The image sees Cuoco, in character, behind the scenes as she holds a clapperboard, grinning ear to ear. In Vanished, Cuoco plays Alice. Per the logline, a romantic getaway to Paris takes a dark turn with the sudden disappearance of Alice’s boyfriend, Tom, aboard a train to France. She is then plunged into a web of intrigue and danger, uncovering secrets about the man she thought she knew.

Kaley Cuoco and Sam Claflin have been added to the cast of the Prime Video mystery thriller series ‘Vanished.’

Karin Viard (Polisse, The Bélier Family), Matthias Schweighöfer (Oppenheimer, Army of the Dead), Simon Abkarian (Casino Royale) and Dar Zuzovsky (Corduroy) will also star. Vanished starring Kaley Cuoco has landed at Amazon, with filming on the thriller show now underway. Cuoco will be best known to many for her starring role as Penny in The Big Bang Theory, with the hit sitcom running for 12 seasons on CBS starting in 2007. Since the series concluded, Cuoco has kept busy in the world of TV, voicing Harley Quinn in the animated series of the same name and making a splash with The Flight Attendant and Based on a True Story.

Per Deadline, Amazon has now picked up streaming rights for Vanished for the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a Prime Video release planned for next year. Per Deadline, Vanished will air on Prime Video next year in the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Following the unfortunate cancellation of her underrated Peacock comedy-mystery series Based on a True Story, Cuoco has already set her next project at Amazon.

Back in March, Cuoco boarded the mystery thriller series Vanished, and the series officially has a release window and a streaming home. On May 6, Deadline reported that Amazon officially picked up the rights to the new series in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Prime Video will release the series in 2026.

Exclusive: Vanished, the indie action thriller from Randy Charach, is leading Glass House Distribution’s Cannes Film Festival slate.

The pic comprises one of three Glasshouse has acquired in a worldwide rights deal with Charach Productions – the other two being David Lynch-inspired horror Texas Nightmare and action drama Clutch. Charach produces all three, with Michael Merino or Jared Cohn attached as directors.

Vanished, which we told you about in February, stars Charach (Hunting Games), Rampage Jackson (The A-Team), Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street), David Chokachi (Baywatch), Natalie Burn (Black Adam), Al Sapienza (The Sopranos), Laurie Fortier (The Walking Dead), Robert Lasardo (Nip/Tuck), Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2), and James Pratt (Malibu Crush), with Cohn the director. The film follows Jack (Charach), a high-level defense contractor whose life is thrown into chaos when his daughter is kidnapped and held for ransom.

The squad chases down fugitives on CBS’s Swat season eight episode 19, “Run to Ground.” Episode 19 will air on Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10pm Et/Pt. The season, and series, finale is set for May 16, 2025.

“Run to Ground” Plot: After an explosive accident at a fruit-packing facility staffed by prison workers, six inmates escape and scatter across the city. Tasked with chasing down the fugitives, Hondo and 20-Squad discover that the worksite explosion was no accident and that the escapees are working together to carry out a high-stakes robbery. Also, Commander Hicks packs up his office, preparing to vacate the Swat commander’s post, and Gamble gets sobering news about her jailed father.
