They have Protocols ALL wrong in this. I was NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) in the military. First off local police would only be there to direct local traffic in a situation where an unknown biological threat is found. The CDC Homeland Security and even FBI would be there. EVERYBODY would in a military Hazmat suit so that anybody entering the situation is safe. The hospital would have to be a Level one Hospital equip with an Infectious Disease ward where anybody exposed to "patient zero" would be put into. The walls ceilings and floors in Quarantine are all white tile. There are ZERO windows in Quarantine. Nobody is allowed in and everybody who is authorized to be in the ward MUST wear a Hazmat suit at ALL times to prevent risk of exposure. Nothing is allowed in QUARANTINE. NO cell phones, or electronic device. There isn't any TV in the room. All you can do to relieve boredom and maintain any shred of sanity is to count all 2000+ tiles in the room.
I won't go into great detail about the entire list of proper protocol in such a situation. I am watching this miniseries with my hubby who wasn't NBC but Intelligence in the military and we were picking it apart on what they did wrong.
I like the show just that the writers didn't do enough research on protocols when such a situation arrives.

So, there's a lot of negativity on here about this show, which is what led me to create and IMDb account and create this review.
My advice? Ignore that negativity, unless, of course, you're a scientist learning how to fight an outbreak by watching a TV show, or if you're a cop... trying to learn how to fight an outbreak by watching a TV show.
This show is entertaining, with some good performances by various actors/actresses, and is compelling in more than one respect. Is it spot-on science, logical policing, and top- notch writing? No. But it never attempts to be, and my opinion is that most of the negative reviews of this show are the result of unrealistic and ill-founded expectations.
To put it plainly: I watched this because I LOVED 'Outbreak,' with Dustin Hoffman, Morgan Freeman, Rene Russo, Cuba Gooding, Jr., Kevin Spacey, and Donald Sutherland (amongst others). If you haven't seen it, go watch it. And, before or after you do so, watch this, too. Enjoy it for what it is, and I assure you that you'll be entertained; scrutinize every little detail and section of dialogue, then it surely won't satisfy some need for utter and unadulterated non-fiction.
Something tells me the people that didn't like this show are the same sorts of people that criticized Star Wars for having unrealistic explosions in space. Although I'm obviously not comparing this to Star Wars, some people really just need to get over themselves and learn how to enjoy a good story, regardless of whether it would actually happen this way in the real world.

Firstly, I do love virus movies and shows like Outbreak and Last Ship but this one really has a soul, you can't help but feel along with the characters. The human element is not lost like what happens in so many Zombie shows and movies. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love The Walking Dead but this show is just as good but in a different way.
To let you know where I'm at, I have just finished watching the 5th episode. The show is building at a perfect pace and the character development is wonderful. If this was to really happen in a city in the U.S., this is how it would probably be handled, it has a very real feel to it. Some characters started off cowardly and scared and have developed into brave and helpful people while others have gone the other way. Some, like the lead police character have pretty much been the same person from the beginning. Lex is a genuine good cop who just happens to have the love of his life inside the danger zone or what the show calls the "Cordon". This is not a spoiler, you find out very quickly in the first episode how they get separated on either sides of the cordon. This is very painful to him but he does not let it interfere with his duty to the people of Atlanta.
Don't buy into those silly reviews that are always race, creed or religion biased, those people will never be happy. This is not about the Syrians being evil or the black people being gang bangers or the white people being the goodies, there are all types of people inside the cordon and they are reacting very much like they would if this was real life, most are good, some are bad, enjoy the show.

My review on "Containment" the pilot was amazing and I see no reason why reviews are so bad on IMDb
I found it refreshing, not especially original, but the pilot kept my attention the whole time.
The premise of the show is what would happen if a biological attack happened in the states or anywhere else in the world, and what would happen next.
Would the infrastructure be there to contain this, and how would this affect the population and what would the detrimental effect be on the immediate population be.

OK i am here to say to everyone who know " Containment " to RUN see " THE CORDON " Original series who was the model of this remake.
1) The story Almost the same, but the action and the drama are a lot better in the original series. The first 2 episodes of the remake are very good but after that, the story become very flat and do not "horrify and shock you" same as the original story.
2) Acting inside the remake, each act is too clean, i don't have seen where they are in pain, it's too superficial and fast and very flat. It is as if the cast are inside a big supermarket and just try to reach the last bottle of cola on the last shelves. It's not realistic. Cast of the original TV show are not of course worldwide icons, Inside the original TV Show you can see pain and real emotions on faces each times the show need it! It's very a big difference, because it's realistic!
3) The Ending The remake don't gives you anything, no horror, no solution, nothing, flat like sea without any wind and boats. The original gives you Horror, all answers, and so many things. THIS IS NOT, THE SAME ENDINGS, FOR A LOT OF CHARACTERS, ON THIS TV SHOW. The original TV Show, gives you more.
I am not from the country of the original TV show and it was strange to see a TV show who was not in English, but after 3 episodes i eat them in one row! Because the original story was really hard and was more interesting in many cases.
Now, you know. I invite you, to watch the original TV show to make your own judgment.
Have Fun :)
