I've seen many low budget independent films but this has to be one of the worst. Not just a few bad actors, but everyone is wholly without talent. The dialog is stiff and forced with absolutely no realism. I keep picturing this as a play, but even most stage actors could pull off performances better than this ensemble.
How the director, and those producing this film, could have gone through the entire process of making this picture and not realize it had no spark, whatsoever, is completely beyond me.
Edward D. Wood Jr.'s "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is always touted as the worst film ever made, yet I have always found it charming and entertaining.
"Western World" truly is in the category of horrendously awful and most worthless films ever!

This movie freaking blows, I bought it because the case looked like it may be a good movie. Not only do the actors suck, but none of the scenes on the case actually take place in the actual movie. I wouldn't recommend this movie to my worst enemy. I wish I could have both my time and money back.
It's difficult for anyone, even seasoned directors, to tackle the Western as a genre to test their abilities. Lana Read should be applauded for the effort but should be a lot more circumspect with the material they choose and the talent to carry it off. The Western has a history within the movie industry that stretches back a hundred years and has accumulated many casualties over the year's. It also numbers many successes and these stand proudly amongst some of the best films ever produced. High Noon, Shane and pale rider are just the tip of the very large pile. There are many many others. 'Western World' though is a very poor participant in such a competitive market.
With the advantage of modern technology and computer graphics becoming the norm, audiences are becoming spoiled by these possibilities, however, simple can offer a refreshing alternative but there is a difference between simple and dull. Camera work and lighting are the cornerstone of good cinematic practice and 'Western World' suffers from poor aspects of the first and too much contrast of the other. Storyline and sets are another aspect that are critical to any films success and these are also poorly rendered. The most critical aspect of all though is acting and this is where any film will fail within the first few minutes of watching. In some cases this can happen in seconds.
Making any film can be agonising for all those concerned but this pain should never be transferred to the public. I think Ms Read should look again at some of the great films and try to decide what really makes them stand alone.
I haven't seen acting this bad since my 3rd grade class play. And who wrote that ridiculously cobtrived dialogue? It is supposed to be a western but plays better as a comedy.
In a nut shell this is not worth any ones time. I would not say it was bad acting but rather they can not act. I am sure that your children's school play would be better than this production.
The story line is very slow and none captivating in the least. For the scenery it is mediocre and not really used in the story line.
The only good thing about the production is that they gave people a job and chance to earn some money.
