Marvel Studios is working towards its next "endgame". Just as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's 11-year long Infinity Saga concluded with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, the Multiverse Saga looks to do the same with the upcoming double-finale of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. And to say audiences are ready would be a major understatement.

The first of those two upcoming movies already features a star-studded cast, as the studio unveiled at least 27 major names set to appear in the film. Among those stars are Thor star Chris Hemsworth, Captain America star Anthony Mackie, Shang-Chi star Simu Liu, the casts of Thunderbolts*, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and even returnees from the original X-Men movie series - most of whom are set to make their MCU debut in the film. And they all join Robert Downey Jr. who returns to the legendary franchise in the new role of villain Doctor Doom.

Monday brought two familiar faces back to town. How we love when Danny (Michael Damian) and Christine (Lauralee Bell) are around. Their trip to Crimson Lights had Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) beaming with joy. And, later in the week, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) got the reunion he so desperately needs right now. What we can’t wait for, though, is to see another Christine and Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) showdown. They can never get along for very long and Genoa City is definitely not big enough for the both of them.

Speaking of familiar faces, Amy (Valarie Pettiford) also returned to the scene. And, we have to say,...

Evocative of rural flight and small-town decline, the phrase was the title of French director Hubert Charuel’s 2011 short film, set in his native Saint-Dizier to which Charuel and writing partner Claude Le Pape now return for his second feature. Premiering in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section, “Meteors” summons rather too well that empty, diagonal spirit, following the downward slide of no-hoper characters with nothing much going on, and certainly nothing good.

A briefly buzzy beginning during a rowdy boys’ night at the bowling alley introduces us to Mika (Paul Kircher), Daniel (Idir Azougli) and Tony (Salif Cissé), three childhood friends now in their mid-to-late twenties continuing slacker lifestyles and drunken bonding rituals that apparently haven’t changed much since their teens.
