If you become Spider-Man for an entire generation of movie-goers, your cinematic legacy is always guaranteed. No matter what you do, you will always be Spider-Man for the kids that grew up watching your movies, and with Tom Holland, that's a darn good thing, as the British actor's attempts to explore other characters and styles haven't exactly panned out thus far. The young star is undeniably talented, but for whatever reason, he's yet to emphatically establish himself outside of his three Spidey movies and multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances.

There was the uninspired action adventure outing "Uncharted," which, as video game adaptations go, wasn't the best (though it was hardly the bomb of the decade that was "Borderlands"). His starring role in Doug Liman's "Chaos Walking" also failed to cause much of a stir, and his attempts to save the bloated mess that was the Russo brothers' "Cherry" couldn't redeem that ill-fated crime drama.

Three years afterChris Pine starred in this critically acclaimed film, viewers still rave about his outstanding performance and that of his co-stars. Released in March 2023, Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves quickly became a crowd-favorite, earning a fresh 91% critics' rating onRotten Tomatoes from 315 reviews and a Hot Popcornmeter score of 92%. Additionally, the film was added toNetflix’s catalog earlier this year, where it quickly reached the #2 spot just two days later. Unfortunately, its time on the streamer is about to end, as we’ve learned that Netflix plans to remove the production next month.

Based on What’s on Netflix’s list of productions leaving the streaming giant next month, Honor Among Thieves is set to exit on August 26, exactly six months after landing on February 26. The film was directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Gilio from a story by Chris McKay and Gilio.

Do you fancy a cinematic meditation on heavy themes like identity and self-discovery? Are you a fan of the surreal and dreamlike world of Twin Peaks? If you answered in the affirmative to both of those prompts, we’re off to a great start. However, I still have one more screening question before I am comfortable making an informed recommendation. My final question is this: Are you a fan of ‘90s nostalgia and the iconic output of Nickelodeon circa that pivotal decade? If you are three for three at this point, I am finally comfortable recommending a surreal throwback with which multiple members of the Dread Central team connected.

More specifically, I’m talking about Jane Schoenbrun‘s coming-of-age horror picture I Saw the TV Glow. The film is a surreal mediation on heavy themes that counts the aforementioned references as points of inspiration.

Life in the 2020s has gotten pretty weird, which is why fantasy movies are such an excellent escape. They're also usually very pretty to look at, with stories told on an epic scale.

Since the start of this decade, we've seen quite a few new fantasy stories spring to life on the big screen, including new Disney stories and a couple of medieval epics.

That being said, sometimes it does feel like we're in a bit of a drought when it comes to high fantasy films. Nonetheless, we've created a list of the most captivating fantasy movies from the 2020s (so far).

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences handed out its annual invitations to membership today, with 534 new invitees. If all of them accept, the new overall membership would be 11,120, of which 10,143 would be eligible to vote for Oscars and run for governance elections.

Among those on the list are newly minted Oscar winners Mikey Madison (Best Actress for Anora) and Kieran Culkin. Among all the invitees this year 91 are past Oscar nominees including 26 winners. The tape is housed in a sleeve designed by Matthew Dix and comes with four collectible cards (three base cards and one random foil). Priced at $40, it will ship by June 27.

Residents and tourists alike were met with a massive digital billboard flashing the words “Now You See Me,” a live countdown clock, and a mysterious phone number, inviting them to text or call for a surprise.

As the countdown hit zero, the billboard flipped to reveal: “Now You Don’T” and fans received a surprise text with the brand-new trailer – and instant cash prizes, courtesy of The Horsemen.

Franchise newcomers Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith, and Dominic Sessa joined the magic in person to help stage the visual “heist” in the heart of Times Square.
