Good friends with Benedict Cumberbatch, whom he met while they were both students at the University of Manchester. His marriage to his partner was officiated by Cumberbatch, who had been ordained by the Universal Life Church. In return, he was one of three best men at Cumberbatch's wedding to Sophie Hunter.

Speaks Russian and enjoys Russian culture.

After being called to the bar in 2001, he went on to specialize in money laundering, international fraud and other types of financial crime.

Although the show he stars in is entitled Judge Rinder (2014), he is actually a barrister rather than a judge. Before production began, he made it clear that viewers of the show must be aware at the beginning of each episode that he is a practicing criminal barrister rather than a civil law judge.

Originally had dreams of being an actor before deciding to pursue law instead.

In his youth, he attended the National Youth Theatre.

He is Jewish, and the grandson of a Holocaust survivor.

In October 2015, his book Rinder's Rules: Make the Law Work For You! was published by Century, an imprint of Penguin Random House.

He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to Holocaust Education and Awareness in London, Greater London, England.

Attended Queen Elizabeth's School in Barnet, London.

Studied Politics, Modern History and Art at the University of Manchester. Graduated with double First Class Honours.
