Jude Law & Nicholas Hoult's 92% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Thriller Gets New Streaming Home
Image
The criminally underrated The Order did not gain as much attention as other titles released on the big screen in 2024. Last year provided moviegoers a number of critically acclaimed features across various genres, leaving the Justin Kurzel-directed crime thriller somewhat overshadowed. However, that doesn’t mean the film wasn’t a critical success, with a 92% Rotten Tomatoes score as of this writing. Now, the movie is bound to be introduced to a much wider audience this month. The Order — starringJude Lawand Nicholas Hoult — will be added to Hulu's extensive library starting April 18, 2025.

The crime thriller boasts an ensemble cast led by Law and Hoult, both of whom have impressive acting portfolios under their belts. Law, best known for his performance in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, has continued to prove his range as an actor time and again with a range of genres, including comedy, thriller, drama, and action.

Jude Law Crime Thriller The Order Promises to Be One of the Best of the Year
Image
Jude Law's latest film, The Order, received a seven-minute standing ovation at the Venice International Film Festival and promises to be one of the best movies of the year. While much of the attention went to the film's leading man, Law's co-stars and director also enjoyed the celebration-like reception of the crime thriller, which is based on a true story. The Order is director Justin Kurzel's latest drama and stars Law alongside Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sebastian Pigott, Jurnee Smollett, Huxley Fisher, and Marc Maron, among others.

Per a report from the event via Variety, the premiere in Venice resonated with the audience, who cheered for the director and cast for seven whole minutes (some reports put the number as high as eight), during a standing ovation that would likely have lasted longer if the cast and crew hadn't exited the theater. Other films that received standing ovations...

Wild Eye Releasing Review Round-Up: Soft Matter and Cat Sick Blues
Those that complain that horror has grown too comfortable or stale or who proclaim that there’s nothing “different” to watch are clearly not paying attention to Wild Eye Releasing, a company that specializes in truly independent cult horror and exploitation cinema. Their films cannot be easily categorized and refuse to fit inside any prefabricated boxes, which I know can be off-putting for some people. They are often, for lack of a better word, “weird,” and their appeal lies in just how outside the norm they can be.

Cat Sick Blues, one of two titles new to DVD from Wild Eye, certainly fits the bill as independent outsider cinema. The Australian production finds a woman named Claire (Shian Denovan) who has achieved some degree of notoriety thanks to her internet famous cat. A mentally disturbed admirer breaks into her home, rapes her, and kills her cat, all of which is...

‘Soft Matter’ Review
Stars: Ruby Lee Dove II, Hal Schneider, Mary Anzalone, Devyn Placide, Mark Blumberg, Catherine Grady, David Dillard, Sam Stinson, Mykal Monroe, Bradley Creel, Ruby Epkins | Written and Directed by Jim Hickcox

Soft Matter certainly has originality on its side. A story that somehow manages to mix two trendy graffiti artists, two immortality-obsessed scientists and a sea god sounds like it’s worth a watch even just for the bizarreness.

In truth, it’s not actually as bizarre as it sounds. Immortality-obsessed scientists isn’t anything new in the world of sci-fi but the male and female duo do add plenty of humour. At first you may wonder how the two graffiti artists are going to link with the story but it soon becomes clear as they want to throw a last minute trendy art gallery/show to promote and make money from their art. They choose a run down, old...
