If you still remember teen fantasy shows like The Vampire Diaries and Riverdale that went on for far too long, even after their stories had no steam left, but you might not remember the shows in this list, as they had so much more story to tell, but they were canceled way too soon. Teen fantasy shows were all the rage in the 2010s and that’s why there were so many of them but most of them didn’t hit as hard as The Vampire Diaries or Teen Wolf, but that doesn’t mean that the shows that were canceled were not as good or even better then these two shows. That’s the reason why we decided to compile a list of seven great (or underrated) teen fantasy shows that had great potential but were canceled way too soon.

Ahead of the arrival of Season 2, Netflix has renewed My Life with the Walter Boys for a third season.

Based on the book by Ali Novak, the YA series follows Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) as she moves in with her late mother’s best friend Katherine (Sarah Rafferty) who has nine sons and one daughter.

After Season 1 arrived at the end of 2023, Netflix swiftly renewed the Western series for a second season, which has wrapped production in Calgary, Canada.

The Vampire Diaries is one of the best and most iconic teen drama fantasy series and it captured the hearts and minds of its audience for over eight years during its eight-season run. Developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, the teen fantasy horror drama series is based on the book series of the same name by author L.J. Smith and it follows Elena, who faces high school after just having lost her parents, and on her first day back she sees Stefan a brooding guy in a black jacket who is hiding a lot of things, for instance, his brother Damon and the fact that both of them are vampires. The Vampire Diaries stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley in the lead roles with Steven R. Review: Mario Van Peebles is in the enviable position of being a writer, director and actor who can make the kinds of movies he wants with the people he wants. He was able to gain recognition on his own merit, outside of his father’s work, as he appeared in films like Heartbreak Ridge with Clint Eastwood, Ali with Will Smith, as well as cult classics like Gunmen which co-stars Christopher Lambert. He would work with him again in Lambert’s franchise sequel, Highlander: The Final Dimension. Plus, Van Peebles would gain acclaim as a director with the films he’s pulled double duty on — such titles as New Jack City...

If Sergio Leone had ever signed on to make one of those ‘70s Blaxploitation oaters that once provided steady employment for Fred Williamson, it likely would have looked and sounded much like “Outlaw Posse,” a wildly uneven but cumulatively entertaining shoot-‘em-up that finds Mario Van Peebles doing triple duty as director, screenwriter and star. Quadruple duty, actually, if you count his credit as an executive producer.

“Outlaw Posse” has nothing to do with Van Peebles’ previous entry in this genre, 1993’s wild and woolly “Posse,” which suggests the multitasking filmmaker is tipping his Stetson to the multitude of ‘60s Spaghetti Westerns that, ahem, borrowed titles and eponymous characters from better known yet totally unrelated horse operas. But, then again, maybe not. Indeed, the film will probably be enjoyed most by folks not given to undue consideration of such trifling matters as lineage, logic and arrant anachronisms.

He would make many appearances as an actor, including working with fellow gunslinger Clint Eastwood on Heartbreak Ridge, as the sword-wielding Kane in Highlander: The Final Dimension, and taking on the monumental task of portraying Malcolm X in the Michael Mann film, Ali. There have been some fascinating genre mash-ups in recent years, films which seem "normal" but turn into horror, sci-fi, comedy, or any number of genres and subgenres. In fact, it seems like audiences may be growing tired of single-genre films, like straight-up dramas and strictly sci-fi films. Barbarian, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Banshees of Inisherin, Bones and All, and Triangle of Sadness were some of the best movies of 2022, and are all very hard to define in specifically singular genre terms.

A romanticized crime thriller with deep currents of dark comedy, Welcome to Redville flirts with horror and philosophy as it tells an existentialist tale of two criminals on the run who can't escape the ramifications of their actions and bad behavior. Gravitas Ventures has acquired the global rights to Isaac H. Eaton’s 2023 crime thriller “Welcome to Redville” starring Jake Manley, Highdee Kuan and Chris Elliott. Gravitas, The Anthem Sports & Entertainment Company, has set the film’s VOD release for August 29.

“Welcome to Redville” tells the story of a robbery-gone-wrong and the couple forced on the run in a small desert town called Redville. As drama and death ensues, couple Leo (Manley) and Toni (Kuan) discover that Redville and its strange townspeople are hard —if not impossible — to shake off.

The film was written by Eaton and Danny DeVoto. It was produced by Eaton and Frank Zanca and was executive produced by Brad Kramer and Alice Abernathy. Bill Guentzler, Gravitas Ventures VP of acquisitions, helmed the deal with Ramo Law.

Telluride Film Festival has unveiled the poster for its 50th anniversary.

The upcoming Asian American feature film “Chopin,” starring Eddie Liu and Violett Beane, officially wrapped a 25-day shoot on June 4. Announced last year, the film is now in post-production and scheduled for an early 2024 premiere.

The film is the feature directorial debut of Vincent Lin, a successful commercials director and co-founder of Valiant Pictures. The film, written by Lin, also stars Golden Horse Film Award winner Leon Dai and Taiwanese legend Wu Min (“The Queen!”).

It tells the story of Chopin Wu (Liu), who returns home to small-town America where he grew up, to amend an estranged relationship with his workaholic father (Dai). With a sudden appearance from his ailing grandmother (Wu), he is confronted by a past he had left behind. Chopin is forced to re-examine old relationships, embrace a heritage he once denied and discover the importance of family and identity.

Prime Video’s new horror/satire/workplace comedy-drama The Consultant is based on the novel of the same name by Bentley Little. It stars Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz in the role of Regus Patoff, a mysterious new boss of a video game development company called CompWare. It becomes clear quite quickly that something is very off about the way he runs the firm.

Last month, we learned that Lionsgate is funding a horror film based on the novel Creepers (pick up a copy Here) by First Blood author David Morrell. At the time, it was said that Skylan Brooks (The Darkest Minds) would be one of the film’s cast members – but Deadline reports that Brooks is no longer involved with the project. Suretone Pictures and Lionsgate are co-financing Suretone’s adventure/horror film Creepers, based on the bestselling 2005 book of the same name by David Morrell, and today we’ve got some updated casting news to share. Deadline is reporting that Shane Paul McGhie (What Men Want) has joined the cast, taking over the role Skylan Brooks had been set to play.

Update – 8/24/22 – 3pm Est: Deadline reports that Brennan Keel Cook (The Pale Blue Eye) and newcomer Cat Shank have also signed on to star in Creepers.

Exclusive: We’ve just learned that Suretone Pictures and Lionsgate have as set the cast for its adventure horror thriller Creepers, with Jake Manley, Adeline Rudolph, Francesca Reale, Laurence O’Fuarain, Nicholas Hamilton, Javier Botet, Skylan Brooks and Kai Caster joining.

The film, which begins production this week in Bulgaria, is directed by music video and commercial filmmaker Marc Klasfeld.

John Cusack is not one to mess with in the trailer for upcoming thriller Pursuit. The Lionsgate film, directed by Brian Skiba, stars Cusack as a crime boss alongside Emile Hirsch, Jake Manley, and Elizabeth Ludlow.

The cast of Netflix's The Order is speaking out following its recent cancellation.

Series creator Dennis Heaton announced that the streamer had pulled the plug after two seasons late last week, saying he "was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew."

"It is one of the best experiences of my career," he wrote.

"Unfortunately, we aren't returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching."

The cast took to social media shortly after the news was made public.

"Alright Acolytes," said Sarah Grey, who played Alyssa Drake.

"We won’t be returning for another season of The Order. But we are so grateful for all of the love you guys have shown us," the actress continued.

"Thank you for joining me on this magical chapter of my life. To the producers/writers/cast/crew."

Horror drama series “The Order” will not be returning to Netflix for a third season, the streamer confirmed to Variety.

Dennis Heaton, the creator, writer and executive producer of the series, made the announcement via Twitter on Friday night. “For two seasons I was honored to work with an incredible cast and crew on The Order for @Netflix,” Heaton wrote. “It was one of the best experiences of my career. Unfortunately, we aren’t returning, but I will always cherish the memories and the props I stole. Thank you all for watching.”

The supernatural drama series has been canceled after two seasons, according to its creator, Dennis Heaton.

Heaton broke the news in a series of Tweets.
