We have the exclusive trailer for Neil Meschino's upcoming Maggots. The movie features giant, mutant maggots that end up terrorizing a group of college kids. These college students are on their way to uncover evidence of these sick and twisted mutations caused by pollution from a nearby mysterious fracking site in the mountains of upstate New York. From the looks of the trailer, we're all in for some campy horror-comedy fun with some pretty impressive special effects. You can see for yourself below, but it isn't for the faint of heart.

It’s lucky 13 — as in 13th annual edition — for Switzerland’s Lausanne Underground Film Festival, an epic celebration of cinematic weirdness, violence, filth and everything else that makes life worth living. The wild debauchery runs October 15-19.

The fest opens on Oct. 15 with the feature film debut by Leah Meyerhoff, I Believe in Unicorns, which tells the story of a troubled teenage girl who runs away with an aggressive older boy.

Other new films include the misanthropic comedy Buzzard by Joel Potrykus; the deep woods psychological thriller Mother Nature by Johan Liedgren; the complex Japanese drama Kept by Maki Mizui; and more.

Mold is an indie throwback to the gory glory days of 80s and 90s horror and scifi where a scientific experiment desired by the military and government to fight Reagans war on drugs goes horribly awry. The immense amount of work Neil Meschino and his cast and crew put into this film pays off in a final product that successfully pays loving tribute to horror of the 80s from its Thingstyle plot to its overthetop and effective lowbudget effects.

So what exactly will survive after a nuclear disaster? Cockroaches and mold. With resiliency like that, you'd have to imagine that sooner or later some horror director would tap the funky fungus to be the star of a film ... and Neil Meschino is just that director. Read on for the details.

No, Emerald Lagoon, Swamphead, and Mold! is not the title of a new Bill Cosby comedy in the vein of Mother, Jugs, and Speed. They’re three new very low budget monster comedies about a gillman swamp monster, a zombiefied head on the attack, and mold-covered zombies.

The first is Emerald Lagoon, a new spin on the Creature from the Black Lagoon. In fact, the movie was originally going to be Creature in the Black Lagoon. Now the lagoon is green instead of black.

Think back to the early 1980's. Think back to director Frank Henenlotter. Think back to a little film known as Basket Case. While clearly not a film for all tastes including mine, the film definitely had cult classic written all over it. Now enter director Neil Meschino of the film Mold!. While Mold!, starring Edward X. Young, Ardis Campbell, Robert Fattorini, Chris Gentile, Lawrence George, Rick Haymes, Mike Keller and director Neil Meschino, isn't as boundary pushing as Basket Case, it captures the same spirit, the same tone as Basket Case. Working in the film's favor is the fact that it is more commercial and accessible then Basket Case, yet it is its own unique film. It's different. It has edge. It has something to it. Could director Neil Meschino have a possible cult classic on his hands? Only time will tell, but just in case Mold! does reach that...

Meschino's independent horror comedy from writer Dave Fogerson is currently in post-production and prepping for a film festival run. The first teaser trailer gives us a good indication of what to expect when this Mold! finally gets unleashed upon us all.
