Actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee is overjoyed to make her debut in films. However, she said that doing movies doesn’t mean she will now take a step back from working on the small screen or the web.

The actress, who gained popularity essaying the role of Gopi Bahu in the show ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’, will be seen playing the lead in ‘Bengal 1947: An Untold Love Story’.

Talking about her big screen debut, Devoleena said: “I’m excited about making my film debut. I wish my audience love and support me like every time. I’m not limited to any particular medium. I’m happy to enjoy the opportunity to explore the big screens, after acting in projects that aired on TV and digital platforms. As an actor I never look to limit myself to any particular medium.”

Actress Sohaila Kapur, who is known for ‘Phantom’, ‘Aarya’, ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Special Ops’, will be seen portraying the role of a queen in the upcoming period drama film ‘Bengal 1947: An Untold Love Story’.

The film delves into the intricacies of a unique love story woven by the writer-director Akashaditya Lama. The actress said that playing a compassionate and caring queen offered a completely new and engaging experience.

Talking about what attracted her towards the character, she said, “The opportunity to portray a royal person who engaged with the people during a rebellion against the British was particularly appealing. It evoked images of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi and the many other warrior queens who defied invaders.”

Mumbai, March 12 (Ians) Devoleena Bhattacharjee on Tuesday unveiled the motion poster of her upcoming period drama ‘Bengal 1947: An Untold Love Story’, which is set against the backdrop of historical partition.

The film promises a blend of period drama and romance, and delves into the intricacies of a unique love story, brought to life by writer-director Akashaditya Lama.

Devoleena, who is known for participating in the controversial reality show ‘Bigg Boss’, took to Instagram and shared the first look of the movie.

The motion poster reads as: “Amidst the turmoil and chaos of a nation’s partition, witness the epic love story.”

‘Lucknow, April 11 (Ians) People’s Initiative, a city-based non-profit organisation has come up with the concept ‘Theatre for elderlies’ — by them and for them.

The members plan theatre workshops for elderly and have discussed how senior citizens can be engaged and plays can be produced revolving around themes related to them, where they can play different characters and also how the youth can be involved in understanding their perspective.

The examples of veteran actor Anil Rastogi and theatre director Puneet Asthana, who are pursuing their passions in their 60s and 70s, were also given.

“Theatre for senior citizens can go a long way in sensitizing our community to the way they look at old age and the contribution it can make to later generations. The ensemble activity of theatre itself requires bonding that is essential to the building of a self-reliant social structure that is at the core of our survival and well-being.
