Exclusive: Under the radar rom-com 40 Dates and 40 Nights has wrapped production in Houston, with cast including Bailee Madison (Pretty Little Liars), Joel Courtney (The Kissing Booth), Annie Potts (Ghostbusters), Jai Rodriguez (Bros) and Luxy Banner (The Get Together).

The story revolves around Leah Jones (Madison), who is navigating the challenges of dating. Gigi (Potts), her grandmother, bets her a full year’s rent if she can prove love isn’t out there after 40 consecutive dates.

Andy Delaney directs from a script inspired by true events from Sarah “Howie” Howard. Vance Howard is executive producer for Lucky Number 8 Productions. The film is a co-production between Lucky Number 8 and Rebellium Films (Cottonmouth), produced by Randy Wayne and Madison, with co-producers Sandler Weinberg and Sarah Howard.

The underrated revenge thriller film Landmine Goes Click offers a challenging viewing experience, and its ending actually deconstructed its own genre. Released independently in 2015, the film follows three American tourists in the country of Georgia who find their picturesque getaway interrupted when one of them steps on a landmine. Shifting gears almost constantly, Landmine Goes Click quickly elevated itself above its original high-concept horror idea, and incorporated the revenge genre for even more effective scares. More importantly than all that, Landmine Goes Click explored deeper themes which allowed the movie to deconstruct the popular horror subgenre and analyze it through a modern lens.

Reminiscent of the grindhouse B-movies of the 1970s, which often used gruesome imagery and shocking plots to get their point across, Landmine Goes Click pulled no punches in its storytelling. The Disney Channel was an incredibly popular brand during its prime, holding a significant place in children's pop culture from the early 2000s to the mid-2010s. The channel was home to numerous popular TV series and films, each of which had its own distinct stories and characters. However, many of those featured something in common: a prominent romantic storyline for its lead characters.

For many young viewers of the channel, these love stories were some of the first TV couples they consumed, becoming heavily invested in who their favorite characters would end up with by the end of their respective series. Many of these romantic storylines made use of common romantic comedy tropes, like miscommunication or love triangles. While the channel highlighted many of these love stories, some Disney Channel couples stood out as especially popular and beloved.

Levan Bakhia doesn’t have a lot of credits to his name, and his only other directed movie so far is the sauna-set thriller 247°F. Yet before taking his indefinite leave of absence from filmmaking, Bakhia left the world a disturbing parting gift. His 2015 movie is strictly for fans of disobedient storytelling. Set and filmed in the Georgian director’s homeland, Landmine Goes Click combines a high-concept plot with the brutality of vintage Grindhouse and exploitation movies.

While the country of Georgia has made a conscious effort to clear landmines left over from wartime, there is always going to be the chance that one was overlooked. And unfortunately for the three characters in Landmine Goes Click, they found it. Newly engaged couple Daniel and Alicia and their best friend Chris (Sterling Knight) are backpacking somewhere out in the Georgian countryside, near the mountains and several hours away from the closest town.

Miley Cyrus played a regular teenager who is also a pop singer in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana, and actor and writer Cazzie David guest-starred in a season 2 episode. Cazzie played herself alongside her father, Larry David, and sister, Romy David, and the three appear together in a restaurant scene. The humorous moment is brief and fits into an overall storyline where Miley wants her friend Lilly Truscott (Emily Osment) to see that her love interest, Lucas (Sterling Knight), is cheating. Several other singers and actors guest-starred on the show, including the Jonas Brothers, Sheryl Crow, Selena Gomez, and Dwayne Johnson.

Cazzie David's memoir, No One Asked For This, was published in 2020 and included essays about mental health, heartbreak, and having a famous parent. She recently played Jayme Hargreeves, a Sparrow, in season 3 of The Umbrella Academy and previously starred as Remi in the web series Eighty-Sixed, which she co-created with Elisa Kalani.

Disney Channel Original Movies are well known for their solid takes on classic stories and for breaking the mold for teenage-specific tales. While movies like the High School Musical and Descendants are prime examples of popular DCOMs, some movies don’t receive enough credit.

StarStruck follows superstar Christopher Wilde (Sterling Knight) and Midwesterner Jessica Olson (Danielle Campbell) as they fall in love in Los Angeles while avoiding the paparazzi. Renowned science fiction writer Jerome Bixby produced many short stories in the genre, but he is perhaps most well-known for writing a handful of classic Star Trek episodes. The memorable original Twilight Zone entry, “It’s a Good Life,” was based on his short story, as was the same segment in The Twilight Zone—The Motion Picture (1983). Bixby was also responsible for the stories or scripts for sci-fi films such as Fantastic Voyage (1966), and It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958).

Bixby’s last work, allegedly completed on his deathbed in 1998, was the screenplay The Man from Earth. Nearly ten years later (2007), Bixby’s son Emerson helped bring it to the screen as producer. The low-budget feature was directed by Richard Schenkman and starred David Lee Smith as “John Oldman,” a man in the present day who has lived without aging for 14,000 years. That’s what the independent producers of “The Man From Earth: Holocene” concluded about the inevitable piracy of their sci-fi film, a sequel to the 2007 cult hit “The Man From Earth.”

More than two months before its April 3 release on digital and DVD, they uploaded it to The Pirate Bay — available in up to 1080p HD format — and it spread to other services. The video is book-ended by an appeal from director-producer Richard Schenkman to consider donating some money if they watched the movie. “If you like it, support it, and remember that sharing is caring,” reads the note they included with the digital versions they distributed on piracy networks.

The Nice Guys didn’t perform as well as we felt it deserved, yet Shane Black is something of a hot commodity again. While his Predator sequel / reboot / whatever prepares for a release in February of 2018, the writer-director apparently spent this Memorial Day weekend with, fittingly, our greatest living American, Dwayne Johnson, to move forward with their long-rumored collaboration: Doc Savage, a ’30s- and ’40s-era superhero who pre-dates and, speaking for ability, in many ways matches Superman.

Taking to Instagram, the star confirmed his involvement in the project scripted by Black, Nice Guys co-writer Anthony Bagarozzi, and Chuck Mondry. The fine folks at Terror Films have set a DVD date for Landmine Goes Click. This terrifying film, from the country of Georgia, will be on DVD shelves this May 31st, 2016. Generally speaking, I’m a fan of the ‘protagonist(s) are trapped in a single location’ sub-genre of the thriller. I have previously enjoyed a lot of them, such as 127 Hours, Fermat’s Room, Exam, Phone Booth, Buried, Cube; even trashier fare like Devil (which, as @MatBarnett correctly points out, should really have been called ‘Hellevator‘) has entertained me. Landmine Goes Click certainly did not.

The reason all of the above films work, at least on some level, is because when constraints are imposed on a narrative, it’s not just the protagonists that have to think creatively. Filmmakers are forced to try different ways of telling their stories both in a practical sense (how are we going to shoot this and keep it interesting?...

You know what they say… The show must go on! And now it will. Disney’s Sonny with a Chance is losing 18 year old actress Demi Lovato, post rehab, because the star has decided to focus on her musical career. That story broke in April. It was followed by rumors of a new album and tour for Lovato this year. Her Disney cast mates are not out of work, however, as we learned from EW by way of DigitalSpy.

Los Angeles, CA, United States (Ahn Entertainment) - With Disney Channel's "Sonny With a Chance" and its star Demi Lovato out, the rest of the "Sonny" cast is returning to star in the show-within-a-show, "So Random!," which will be back with all new comedy sketches and musical performances.

The show's young cast, including Tiffany Thornton, Sterling Knight, and Brandon Mychal Smith, will all be returning for brand new episodes of junior variety show "So Random!," which has previously been featured on the Disney Channel for special Halloween and holiday specials.
