Villains make the world go round. What is a good story without one, and thankfully, ABC's The Rookie has a good story and several villains we all love to hate in equal measure. The show is currently in its off-season with filming on its upcoming eighth season currently ongoing and, with its premiere in 2026, will come the return of some of our most beloved characters. Season 7 ended with a couple of baddies getting loose of the cages that held them down. Matthew Glave’s Oscar Hutchinson and notorious villain, Monica Stevenson (Bridget Regan), both sprang loose using two different methods. With production underway, one of them has been quite active online, continually pleading innocence, of course.

While the legal powerhouse, Ada Wesley Evers (Shawn Ashmore), has consistently been on the right side of the law. Monica Stevens is on the opposite aisle as the corrupt attorney has consistently been on the radar of law enforcement.

Another season of The Rookie, another pesky Bailey issue, and yeah, another piece where I’m complaining about it.

But alas, I cannot help it. The Rookie has this frustrating way of shoehorning Bailey into everything, and it’s hard to ignore!

"I don't think it'll be months later," Hawley said about when Season 8 will begin in the series' timeline. "I think it'll be fairly continuous. Not literally the next day, but within a fairly short amount of time... There's some time-sensitive stuff that we left hanging, that feels like we should [resolve soon] for the audience."

Back from her big international escape at the end of Season 6, lawyer-turned-baddie Monica (Bridget Regan) strutted back into the lives of the Mid-Wilshire crew with moments to spare in the Season 7 finale — now with immunity, after she leveraged highly-classified intel to make a deal.

Before we got to the big cliffhanger, Nolan came to life-or-death blows with Oscar (Matthew Glave) after the escaped convict abducted him. They both managed to make it out alive thanks to some quick work by Nyla (Mekia Cox), who recruited a kid with a drone to save the day, but not before taking heavy fire from Oscar’s ride — a helicopter that rained down gunfire while shepherding the longtime antagonist out of the law’s grasp once again.

Chenford is (almost) back together. After a season of post-breakup heartache, casual hookups and truth serum-induced confessions, The Rookie‘s fan favorite couple took a giant step to reconciliation in the finale, which only physical exhaustion prevented from completion.

911 co-creator and showrunner Tim Minear is afraid the rumors are true: Robert “Bobby” Nash (Peter Krause), the beloved fire captain of the Lafd’s Station 118, has just answered his last call.

“Bobby’s dead,” Minear confirms to The Hollywood Reporter in an interview about the biggest creative swing he has ever taken in his three-decade career. Some viewers will want to believe that Bobby’s death is a fakeout — after all, this is a show known for pulling its main characters back from death’s door time and again — but the steward of the 911 franchise insists that he just killed off his male lead: “The body bag didn’t convince you?”

The second part of 9-1-1's two-part contagion arc concludes tonight with Episode 15, "Lab Rats." Several members of the 118 are still stuck in the lab from hell, and time is running out quickly. "Athena (Angela Bassett) and Buck (Oliver Stark) are in a race against time to rescue the rest of the 118 following the fire in the biolab," reads the episode's official logline. The situation births an unlikely team-up as Athena and Buck work together to save the people they love. Under normal circumstances, a team-up between Athena and Buck would be a recipe for disaster (at least for Athena), but they are of a singular mind here. A sneak peek of the episode (via Entertainment Weekly) previews this duo as they try to circumnavigate some restrictions that the army has put up, restrictions that could see Chimney's (Kenneth Choi) life sacrificed.

The Rookie Season 7, Episode 14, "Mad About Murder," introduced a new storyline for Tim Bradford (Eric Winter). A hacker sent him a message, which spawned an investigation into the dark web, uncovering a killing spree in the city. However, the show did not close the arc properly since the hacker was never caught. Showrunner Alexi Hawley told Screen Rant that leaving the arc open is intentional, since they might need it in the future. "I think that's one of those breadcrumbs that, when the time is right, we'll bring back around. I love planting those seeds, and finding actors who come in to do a part [where] you're like, 'Oh God, we can't lose them.' ABC’s 9-1-1 season eight episode 14, part one of a two part thriller, finds the first responders dealing with an incredibly dangerous situation. Episode 14, “Sick Day,” will air on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 8pm Et/Pt.

The cast is led by Peter Krause as Bobby Nash and Angela Bassett as Athena Grant-Nash. ABC’s The Rookie Season 7 has been delivering on several fronts this season, with engrossing storylines, well-crafted character arcs, and some much-needed romance along the way. The procedural's March 25 episode, titled “Speed,” followed how John (Nathan Fillion) and Celina (Lisseth Chavez) were in a hostage situation, while the rest of the station worked to assist despite having other fires to put out. The episode has been confirmed as having drawn in the procedural's largest audience of the season — in several seasons, in fact. With three days of cross-platform viewing, the episode hit season highs in both total viewers (8.25 million) and adults 18-49 (2.24 million).

The performance of the episode, Speed, is not one to be sniffed at, as it returns the show to hits it hasn't attained in quite some time. The episode's total of 8.25 million viewers is the most the show has amassed after three days since January 2023, during its fifth season.

Last month, Flogging Molly canceled all their upcoming tour dates as it was announced that frontman Dave King was “battling a very serious health condition.” Now, the punk band has revealed that the singer-guitarist suffered a brain hemorrhage in late January and underwent life-saving surgery.

Bridget Regan, King’s wife and Flogging Molly bandmate, shared the update on the band’s official Facebook page, revealing that following the surgery, King spent two weeks in a coma. The vocalist is currently in recovery, but Regan notes that her husband’s future remains “uncertain.”
