A Film Institute Pune (FTII) graduate.

Was signed for Kamal Amrohi film Aakhri Mughal with Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra. The film got shelved. Then was signed for Chetan Anand film Kudrat. When the producers changed, she was replaced by Ranjeeta Kaur. Raj Kapoor had promised her the lead role in Henna. This was when Raj Kapoor wanted to make the film in the late 70s.

She wanted to make a big name in Hindi films but films she signed either got delayed or shelved.But around that time she signed Punjabi films and became a big star.

After superstar Veerendra was shot in 1988 Punjabi cinema suffered major downfall.Many Punjabi artists started diverting towards Hindi cinema but Daljeet Kaur still remained dedicated to Punjabi cinema.

In her final days she was suffering from Dementia a condition which leads to memory loss.Also had forgotten about her great contribution towards Punjabi cinema.

Earlier wanted to be an IAS but when people started complementing her about her beauty she changed her mind to be an actress.
