The House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to a number of the U.S.’s top political leaders, including Bill Clinton, for testimony about the case surrounding the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) issued the deposition subpoenas on Tuesday, August 5.

The committee has subpoenaed Clinton and Hillary Clinton, as well as former attorneys general Pam Bondi, Alberto Gonzales, Bill Barr, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland and Jeff Sessions, and former FBI Directors Robert Mueller and James Comey, “for testimony related to horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”

Things got heated in congress this week, as Nancy Mace responded to criticism by Jasmine Crockett with an offer to “take it outside.” And, for the hosts of “The View,” it was simply a clown show.

The moment came during a discussion of civil and transgender rights, in which Crockett called Mace out for targeting trans people once again. “I can see that somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now. Smirnov, an FBI informant for over a decade, was further discredited after a DOJ report Tuesday indicated he was not only lying to the FBI about Biden, but had “contacts with multiple foreign intelligence agencies.

The claims made by Smirnov have played a central role in the Republican-led impeachment inquiry against Biden.

Court documents say Smirnov, 43, falsely reported to the FBI in June 2020 that executives linked to the Ukrainian energy company Burisma had paid Hunter and Biden $5 million each in 2015 or 2016. Hunter Biden took House Republicans to task on Wednesday, defying a subpoena for closed-door testimony and instead delivering a statement outside the Capitol decrying the party’s efforts to impeach his father, President Joe Biden.

In November, Republicans subpoenaed Hunter, ordering him to appear before members of Congress to answer questions in a closed-door setting. Biden rejected the demand despite threats to hold him in contempt of Congress, instead offering to testify before the committee in a public setting, where his statements would not be subject to cherry-picking and selective releases by the GOP.

On Monday, the House Oversight Committee announced that Comer had released subpoenaed bank records allegedly “revealing Hunter Biden’s business entity, Owasco PC, made direct monthly payments to Joe Biden.” The statement touted that the committee allegedly found 20 shell companies and “uncovered how the Bidens and their associates raked in over $24 million dollars between 2015 and 2019 by selling Joe Biden as ‘the brand.

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, plans to plead guilty to tax and gun charges following a Justice Department investigation.

Biden will plead guilty to two counts of failure to pay federal income tax. He also has agreed to enter a diversion agreement related to another charge, for possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to a controlled substance.

The agreement was outlined in a letter sent by U.S. Attorney David Weiss to the U.S. District Court in Delaware.

The tax charges are misdemeanors, and the gun charge is a felony. Prosecutors do not plan to recommend jail time, but two years of probation, according to The Washington Post. The gun charge would be removed if Biden does not violate conditions during that period.
