Bill & Hillary Clinton & Other High-Profile Politicians Subpoenaed For Testimony On Jeffrey Epstein To House Committee
Image
The House Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to a number of the U.S.’s top political leaders, including Bill Clinton, for testimony about the case surrounding the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman James Comer (R-Kentucky) issued the deposition subpoenas on Tuesday, August 5.

The committee has subpoenaed Clinton and Hillary Clinton, as well as former attorneys general Pam Bondi, Alberto Gonzales, Bill Barr, Loretta Lynch, Eric Holder, Merrick Garland and Jeff Sessions, and former FBI Directors Robert Mueller and James Comey, “for testimony related to horrific crimes perpetrated by Jeffrey Epstein.”

This quest for more testimonies relating to Epstein follows the media’s fury at Donald Trump’s unfulfilled promise to release DOJ and FBI files about Epstein. Last month, the DOJ faced furious backlash upon the announcement that, following a review of Epstein’s case, no additional information would be released...

‘The View’ Hosts Mock Nancy Mace’s ‘Clown Show’ Offer to ‘Take It Outside’ With Jasmine Crockett
Image
Things got heated in congress this week, as Nancy Mace responded to criticism by Jasmine Crockett with an offer to “take it outside.” And, for the hosts of “The View,” it was simply a clown show.

The moment came during a discussion of civil and transgender rights, in which Crockett called Mace out for targeting trans people once again. “I can see that somebody’s campaign coffers really are struggling right now. So [Mace] is gonna keep saying ‘trans, trans, trans, trans’ so that people will feel threatened, and child, listen —” Crockett said.

But Mace took heavy offense, cutting Crockett off and yelling “I am no child, do not call me a child, I am no child.” As committee chair James Comer, R-Ky. attempted unsuccessfully to call for order, Mace suggested she and Crockett “take it outside.”

Crockett: Somebody’s campaign coffers are struggling right now so she’s going to keep saying trans trans trans.

Attacking The Watchdog: How Media Rating Site NewsGuard Ended Up As A Target For GOP Lawmakers And Regulators
Image
Updated, with Newsmax statement and Brill response: As Donald Trump targets news outlets for new lawsuits, his choices to lead key regulatory agencies have a media watchdog in their sights.

NewsGuard, a media reliability rating service launched in 2018, has been the source of claims made by Brendan Carr, incoming chair of the FCC, and Andrew Ferguson, incoming chair of the FTC, as well as Capitol Hill figures such as House Speaker Mike Johnson. Their claim: NewsGuard is out to “blacklist conservative news sources,” as Johnson put it in a statement last week.

But NewsGuard —along with a host of press freedom advocates — argue that not only are the attacks misguided, but they are, ironically enough, the very type of government pressure that threatens to chill speech protected by the First Amendment.

“The Constitution protects the expression of groups like NewsGuard, which simply provide opinions on the credibility of content and...

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle Resigns In Fallout Over Assassination Attempt On Donald Trump
Image
Kimberly Cheatle, the director of the Secret Service, resigned today, after testifying before Congress that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump was the “most significant operational failure” at the agency in decades.

The Associated Press reported that Cheatle had stepped down.

Cheatle faced a turbulent hearing on Monday before the House Oversight Committee, after which the chairman of the committee, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky) joined with the top Democrat on the panel, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-md) to call for her to step down.

Trump was struck by a bullet at his July 13 rally in Butler, Pa, while one attendee, Corey Compertore, was killed. Two others were critically wounded.

Cheatle faced questions of why the shooter was able to gain access to a nearby rooftop, outside the security perimeter at the event, with reports that authorities were warned of suspicious activity. She stressed to lawmakers that the investigation is ongoing.

Secret Service Director Resigns Following Trump Assassination Attempt
Image
Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle has resigned from her post following an assassination attempt against Donald Trump, one that she described as “the most significant operational failure of the Secret Service in decades.”

On Monday, Cheatle sat for a combative round of testimony before the House Oversight Committee. The Secret Service director didn’t provide many answers to lingering questions about security failures that allowed a gunman to access to a rooftop with a clear firing line to Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month.

Lawmakers, clearly...

Biden Orders Independent Review of Rally Security in Wake of Trump Assassination Attempt
Image
President Joe Biden addressed the nation for a second time after the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, stressing the importance of “unity” and announcing he has called for an independent review of security procedures at the rally where the shooting took place.

“There’s no place in America for this kind of violence or any violence for that matter,” Biden said from the White House on Sunday afternoon. “An assassination attempt is contrary to everything we stand for as a nation. Everything. It’s not who we are as a nation,...

Fauci Testimony Turns Chaotic: ‘Most Insane Hearing I’ve Attended’
Image
A hearing in the House Oversight Committee once again devolved into chaos as Republican lawmakers attempted to pillory former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci over his involvement in the response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Fauci was summoned before the committee on Monday, where Republicans grilled him over the effectiveness of social distancing measures, his relationship with major pharmaceutical companies, and a slew of pandemic-era conspiracies.

Never one to miss an opportunity to perform for C-span’s cameras, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) refused to address Fauci as a doctor,...

After Being Called A ‘Bad Built, Butch-Body’ At House Hearing, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Gets Her Revenge Posing In A Bikini For Her 50th Birthday
Image
After having her body insulted during a House hearing earlier this month, controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) got her revenge on Monday by posting a flattering bikini shot to mark her 50th birthday.

“From being the first person to graduate college in my family, to carrying three babies in my womb and the absolute miracle of 3 childbirths, to raising my children and teaching them about God’s creation and man’s dangers, to running successful businesses and carrying the weight of the responsibility, being a member of Congress, running, cycling, swimming, competing, training, reading, always learning, creating, building, skiing, surfing, hiking, making mistakes, learning lessons, and most importantly God’s grace that I don’t deserve but am thankful for beyond words, my 50 years have been an incredible journey that I’m thrilled to be on,” Greene wrote in her post.

It was a markedly different tone from the...

Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘A Racist’ After She Insults Her Eyelashes At House Hearing
Image
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) and Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) got into a heated exchange at Thursday’s House Oversight meeting. The meeting focused on GOP efforts to hold U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. Garland refuses to release audio recordings of President Joe Biden‘s interview with special counsel Robert Hur.

The conversation veered when Greene tried to connect Democrats to Judge Juan Merchan overseeing former President Donald Trump‘s hush-money trial. Greene also asked if any Democrats employed Merchan’s daughter, a specific attack that led to Trump’s gag order. Trump previously took to Truth Social to insult Merchan’s daughter, claiming she worked for “Crooked Joe Biden.”

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) jumped in on Greene’s rant. “Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland?” Crockett questioned. “Do you know what we’re here for? You know we’re here about Ag Garland?...

D.C. Mayor Avoids Congressional Testimony After Siccing Cops on Student Protesters
Image
The Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee announced Wednesday morning that it had canceled a hearing scheduled later in the day in which lawmakers planned to interrogate D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser about her response to pro-Palestinian student protests at George Washington University. The cancellation came hours after police raided and cleared the student encampment, which had been occupying a lawn on the university campus since April 25.

According to The Gw Hatchet, the university’s student newspaper of record, more than 30 protesters were arrested by D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department (Mpd) around 3:30 a.

Hunter Biden Is Gearing Up to Sue Fox News ‘Imminently’: Report
Image
Hunter Biden plans to level a lawsuit against the right-wing network Fox News “imminently,” according to a letter obtained by multiple outlets on Monday.

The letter, issued by Biden attorney Mark Geragos, warns Fox News Corp. and Fox News Digital that they are preparing to sue over “conspiracy and subsequent actions to defame Mr. Biden and paint him in a false light, as well as the unlicensed commercial exploitation of his image, name and likeness, and the unlawful publication of hacked intimate images of him.”

The letter specifically mentions “The Trial of Hunter Biden,...

Major News Networks Take A Pass On Full Coverage Of Latest Joe Biden Impeachment Inquiry Hearing
Image
Updated, with additional details from the hearing: The three major news networks largely bypassed live coverage of the latest chapter in a House GOP-led inquiry of whether to impeach President Joe Biden.

That in and of itself was a sign of just how much the effort has been losing steam, even among Republican lawmakers.

The House Oversight hearing, titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office,” featured Tony Bobulinski a former associate of Hunter Biden. Also testifying, albeit remotely, was Jason Galanis, another associate, who is in an Alabama prison serving a sentence for securities fraud.

Also testifying, as a Democratic witness, was Lev Parnas, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani. Parnas said that Giuliani, in advance of the 2020 presidential election, trafficked in false claims that the Biden’s were involved in a Ukrainian corruption scheme, and that the Russians were behind the disinformation effort.

After Hunter Biden Is Deposed By House Republicans, GOP Congressmen Acknowledge It Was A Dud For Them
Image
On Wednesday, Hunter Biden appeared on Capitol Hill for deposition in the GOP’s impeachment inquiry into his father, President Joe Biden, and to deny the claim that the president had any involvement in his business dealings.

House Oversight and Judiciary Committees members interviewed Hunter during a closed-door session on Capitol Hill.

The president’s son came for the deposition before 10:00 a.m. while being flanked by his attorney Abbe Lowell. He did not give statements or speak to reporters.

“I am here today to provide the Committees with the one uncontestable fact that should end the false premise of this inquiry: I did not involve my father in my business,” Hunter told lawmakers in his testimony. “Not while I was a practicing lawyer, not in my investments or transactions domestic or international, not as a board member, and not as an artist. Never.”

Republicans Are Basically Admitting the Hunter Biden Deposition Was a Bust
Image
Republicans are trying to spin the Biden impeachment inquiry forward after an hours-long deposition with his son Hunter Biden on Wednesday. It’s proving difficult, as the closed-door hearing doesn’t seem to have yielded many revelatory details.

Some Republicans are even conceding that Biden performed well under questioning. “I think when the transcript comes out, it’s gonna read well for him, because they did a great job prepping,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.) told Fox News host Harris Faulkner Thursday.

Republicans Are Scrambling to Salvage Their Doomed Biden Impeachment Push

Pay no attention to the discredited informant facing prison time.

GOP officials were scrambling Wednesday after Alexander Smirnov, a key witness in the impeachment proceedings against President Biden, was accused of being informed by Russian intelligence.

Smirnov was arrested last Thursday after Special Counsel David Weiss charged him on suspicion of providing the FBI with fraudulent information. Smirnov, an FBI informant for over a decade, was further discredited after a DOJ report Tuesday indicated he was not only lying to the FBI about Biden, but had “contacts with multiple foreign intelligence agencies.

FBI Informant Charged With Fabricating False Allegations Against President Biden & Son Hunter In Major Blow To House Impeachment Effort
Image
FBI informant Alexander Smirnov has been indicted on charges of concoction of a multimillion-dollar bribery scheme that involved President Joe Biden, Biden’s son Hunter and a Ukrainian energy company.

The claims made by Smirnov have played a central role in the Republican-led impeachment inquiry against Biden.

Court documents say Smirnov, 43, falsely reported to the FBI in June 2020 that executives linked to the Ukrainian energy company Burisma had paid Hunter and Biden $5 million each in 2015 or 2016. Smirnov alleged that an executive had hired Hunter to leverage his father’s influence in order to avoid potential complications. However, prosecutors assert that Smirnov’s interactions with the company were routine business dealings in 2017, and he only made the bribery allegations after he expressed bias against Biden in his presidential candidacy.

After a brief appearance in Las Vegas court, Smirnov was charged with making false statements and creating a fictitious record. He did not enter a plea,...

Hunter Biden Walks Out on Mtg During Wild Contempt Hearing

Hunter Biden walked out of a House Oversight Committee hearing on Wednesday as Chairman James Comer called Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to speak on a resolution to hold the president’s son in contempt of Congress.

Biden made a surprise, in-person appearance at the hearing and offered to address the committee directly. Trump Given At Least $7.8 Million From Foreign Governments During His Presidency, Mostly From China
Image
According to House Democrats, former President Donald Trump received at least $7.8 million from foreign governments during two out of his four years in the White House.

The revelation came in a report released by the House Oversight Committee’s Democratic members on Thursday.

According to the report, 20 foreign governments in countries like Saudi Arabia and Kuwait helped finance Trump’s businesses within two years that the committee was able to look over.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland), the committee’s top-ranking Democrat, mentioned in the report’s foreword that these payments originated from some rival governments. It was confirmed in the report that most of the money came from China, which paid $5.5 million to properties owned by Trump.

“This is a limited window on a far-broader universe of foreign government spending that took place,” Raskin told the reporters on Capitol Hill.

For the most part, the countries used their money for...

A new report released by House Oversight Democrats revealed $7.8 million in payments from foreign governments to former President Donald Trump’s businesses and properties during the years he was in office. The bulk of the payments, to the tune of $5.6 million, came from China.

Republicans Make President Biden Impeachment Inquiry Official
Image
The House of Representatives has officially authorized an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, formalizing their years-long fishing expedition against the president in a floor vote on Wednesday.

Lawmakers voted 221-212 along party lines to approve the resolution authorizing the inquiry.

Before being ousted from the speakership by his own party, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) initiated a vote-less, officially unofficial impeachment inquiry into the president. His successor, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) announced his decision to move forward with a floor vote to legitimize the probe via an...

Joe Biden Blasts “Baseless” GOP-Led House Vote To Formally Authorize Impeachment Inquiry – Update
Image
Updated with Joe Biden statement: The House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to launch an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden, a move Democrats say is being made without evidence of wrongdoing and at the behest of his likely rival in 2024, Donald Trump.

The vote was along party lines, 221-212.

From the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, President Biden quickly shot back, calling the inquiry vote a “baseless political stunt.”

The inquiry means that Congress, for a third time in four years, likely will be engulfed in an impeachment proceeding. Trump was impeached twice, in 2019 and 2021, when Democrats held the House, but he was acquitted in the Senate.

It didn’t take long for the White House to respond to the expected vote. Less than half an hour after the Republican win, Potus tried to flip the script.

“I wake up every day focused on the issues facing the American...

Republicans Rage After Hunter Biden Snubs Subpoena

Hunter Biden took House Republicans to task on Wednesday, defying a subpoena for closed-door testimony and instead delivering a statement outside the Capitol decrying the party’s efforts to impeach his father, President Joe Biden.

In November, Republicans subpoenaed Hunter, ordering him to appear before members of Congress to answer questions in a closed-door setting. Biden rejected the demand despite threats to hold him in contempt of Congress, instead offering to testify before the committee in a public setting, where his statements would not be subject to cherry-picking and selective releases by the GOP.

Hunter Biden Rebukes Republican Investigators, Tells TV Cameras “I Am Here” On Capitol Hill; GOP To Begin Contempt Of Congress Proceedings — Update
Image
Update: House Republicans said that they will begin contempt of Congress proceedings against Hunter Biden, after he refused to testify in closed doors before lawmakers.

Rep. James Comer (R-ky) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-oh) also said that the House will vote on Wednesday whether to authorize an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden.

“Today’s obstruction by Hunter Biden reinforces the need for a formal vote,” they said.

Earlier, Hunter Biden appeared on Capitol Hill, where he told reporters that he was willing to testify publicly.

Comer and Jordan said, “President Biden and his family must be held accountable for their corruption and obstruction. And we will provide that to the American people.”

But the White House has been quick to note that the committee has yet to produce evidence that the president did anything wrong.

Hunter Biden was indicted last week on additional federal tax charges, adding to a...

Comer Flops in Latest Attempt to Link Hunter Biden to Corruption

Hunter Biden Agrees To Publicly Testify Before House Oversight Committee, But Republicans Refuse To Accept Offer

Hunter Biden said in a letter from his lawyer that he is willing to testify before a Republican-led House Oversight Committee on December 13.

Hunter was subpoenaed earlier this month to appear for a closed-door interview as part of Republican’s impeachment investigation into President Joe Biden.

“We have seen you use closed-door sessions to manipulate, even distort the facts and misinform the public,” wrote his lawyer Abbe Lowell to Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Kentucky) on Tuesday.

“Your Committee has been working for almost a year— without success— to tie our client’s business activities to his father,” said Lowell. “You state that one of your purposes is to review how a President’s family’s business activities raise ethics and disclosure concerns to inform the basis for a legislative solution.”

Hunter Biden Offers to Testify Publicly. House Republicans … Aren’t Interested

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, agreed to testify in a public hearing before the House Oversight Committee. Republicans immediately shot him down.

According to a Tuesday letter addressed to committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.), Biden agreed to testify before the committee on Dec. 13 — as long as the hearing was public. In the letter, Biden’s attorneys quoted Comer’s own demand, issued in November, that given Biden’s “willingness to address this investigation publicly up to this point, we would expect him to be willing to testify before Congress.

Attorney General Merrick Garland Appoints David Weiss As Special Counsel In Hunter Biden Investigation
David Weiss
U.S. Attorney David Weiss, who has been overseeing the investigation into Hunter Biden, has been appointed to the post of special counsel, a move intended to give him a new level of independence from the Justice Department.

Attorney General Merrick Garland made the announcement on Friday, amid Republican claims that the investigation of the president’s son had been treated differently and that a proposed plea deal was too lenient.

Weiss, a Donald Trump appointee to the post of top federal prosecutor in Delaware, has supervised the case since 2018, and remained in his position after Biden took office.

Last month, the proposed plea deal unraveled in a Delaware federal court. Biden was to plea guilty to two counts of failure to pay federal income tax, and to enter a diversion program that would resolve a potential gun charge. At one point during the hearing, prosecutors had insisted that the investigation was ongoing,...

Hunter Biden Reaches Plea Agreement With Federal Prosecutors On Tax Charges, Will Face Diversion Program On Gun Charge
Image
Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, plans to plead guilty to tax and gun charges following a Justice Department investigation.

Biden will plead guilty to two counts of failure to pay federal income tax. He also has agreed to enter a diversion agreement related to another charge, for possession of a firearm by a person who is an unlawful user of, or addicted to a controlled substance.

The agreement was outlined in a letter sent by U.S. Attorney David Weiss to the U.S. District Court in Delaware.

The tax charges are misdemeanors, and the gun charge is a felony. Prosecutors do not plan to recommend jail time, but two years of probation, according to The Washington Post. The gun charge would be removed if Biden does not violate conditions during that period.

A judge has not yet approved the plea agreement.

According to the Justice Department,...

On Fox News, Jesse Watters Is Making Bill O’Reilly Proud — Ugh
Image
Fox News’ Jesse Watters is having a busy week, displaying all the talent that has led him to being the host of “Jesse Watters Primetime” and chief instigator on “The Five.”

Here’s a quick list. (1) He pissed on helping the homeless: “You can’t subsidize antisocial behavior you have to stigmatize it. These are people that have failed in life and they’re on their deathbed.” 2. He casually explained that Donald Trump was just “sifting through [documents] and determining which were personal and which were presidential.” 3. He compared not letting Rfk Jr. come on his show to making a girl beg for a date. 4. He misidentified “The Five” panel member Jessica Tarlov as “Katie.” 5. In another episode, Watters cut off Tarlov, aka Katie, and threatened to “smack” her with his copies of the Presidential Records Act.

This kind of behavior is not out of character for Watters, who said last...

‘You Don’t Actually Have Any Facts’: Even Fox Isn’t Buying GOP’s Claims About Biden’s Foreign Business Dealings
Image
House Republicans have been promising to expose President Joe Biden’s supposedly criminal business dealings with foreign entities for months. But the biggest takeaway from Oversight Committee Chair James Comer’s (R-Ky.) much-hyped press conference on Wednesday revealing the GOP’s “findings” was just the opposite — they don’t have the goods.

What Republicans presented on “judgment day” was a memo outlining more than $10 million in payments received by members of the Biden family from foreign businesses between 2015-2017. But the findings lacked a crucial detail — concrete evidence linking Biden...

20 Percent of Americans Have Lost a Family Member to Gun Violence: Poll
Image
Gun violence is rampant in the United States, and a new poll from the Kaiser Family Foundation sheds light on the toll the nation’s addiction to firearms is taking on American families.

The poll found that a majority of adults have personally experienced or have a family member who has experienced a gun-related incident — meaning they have either been threatened with a gun, witnessed someone being injured by a gun, been injured by a gun, or been killed by a gun.

One in five American adults has a family...

Manhattan Da’s Office Slams Republicans Trying to Meddle in Trump Case
Image
Republicans in the House of Representatives have been hounding Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for information about his case against Donald Trump. Bragg’s office once again bashed this effort on Friday, a day after a grand jury voted to indict the former president.

“We urge you to refrain from these inflammatory accusations, withdraw your demand for information, and let the criminal justice process proceed without unlawful political interference,” Leslie Dubeck, the general counsel for Bragg’s office, wrote in a letter addressed to Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Bryan Steil (R-Wisc.

Republicans Suggest Possible Trump Indictment Is to Distract from Hunter Biden Allegations
Image
Rather than attacking the merits of the impending alleged hush money case against Donald Trump, Republicans on Fox News suggested that the news of former president’s potential arrest is part of a secret plan to distract from the allegations against Hunter Biden.

“Well, it’s very odd that [the news of a possible Trump indictment] would come out just the very next day after I revealed bank records which showed that the Biden family — the president in particular — hasn’t been truthful with respect to his family receiving payments directly from the Chinese communist party,” Republican Rep.

The 10 Most Ridiculous Cpac Events
Image
The Conservative Political Action Conference is taking place this week at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. Cpac is the year’s most biggest gathering of conservative thought leaders, serving as a kind of Coachella for misinformation, bigotry, religious zealotry, and veneration of a twice-impeached president who lost the 2020 election. The 2023 edition will feature speeches from likes of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Donald Trump, and others, although big names like Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are skipping the conference,...
