His sister is world-famous surgeon Dr. Anajali Hooda, and his younger brother is an engineer in Singapore, Sandeep Hooda.

Ram Gopal Varma first offered the role of Gabbar Singh to Hooda in RGV Ki Aag. Randeep turned it down as he did not want to get compared to the great Amjad Khan.

Originally signed for the film White Noise in 2002, but later replaced by Aryan Vaid.

Offered the film Rock On, but he turned it down as he was in a contract with Ram Gopal Varma. Purab Kohli later was signed.

Was set to star in Tigmanshu Dhulia's shelved "Jai Ramji Ki" (2011), which was to co-star Irrfan Khan, Arjun Rampal and Preity Zinta. There was speculation that it may have eventually gotten made as Bullet Raja.
