Although his characters were typically portrayed as inept and comical, he was an accomplished gun handler. He displayed these talents often in many of his films, casually performing skilled pistol tricks such as twirling in different directions, both vertical and horizontal twirling, tossing and catching the pistol, and holstering his gun mid-twirl.
