Cedrick Hardman, first and foremost, was an outstanding football
player. He played collegiately at the University of North Texas and was
a teammate of the renowned "Mean Joe" Greene for part of his career. He
was a first-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 1970, and
had an outstanding career until his retirement in 1979. He was selected
to the Pro Bowl in 1971 and 1975. In 1975, he also became the first
two-time winner of the 49ers' Len Eshmont Award. He is currently the
49ers' career leader in sacks with 111.5, and in 1971 established 49er
season record with 18. He has been named as a defensive end on the
49ers "Team of the Seventies.".
