Made his professional debut as a singer in the musical 'Sally'. His first main part was when understudy to Dennis Quilley in 'Grab Me a Gondoller. His first main lead was in 'Lady at the Wheel'.

One of his favourite roles was MacHeath in 'The Beggars Opera'.

Made a record of the hit musical 'Bye Bye Birdie' with Sid James and Michael Sammes. His rendition of 'Put On a Happy Face' was one of the standout tracks.
