On Wednesday night, July 7th, 1983, after leaving Clearwater Bay Country Club on the way to film The 8 Diagram Pole Fighter (1984), he was traveling on the passenger side of his Porsche 911 Targa that was driven by his third brother, Chang Zheng Sheng. They suddenly crashed into a cement wall on Clearwater Bay Road after taking a sharp turn too quickly. He suffered a broken back, severe internal injuries and significant blood loss. After 3 hours in the hospital, he died at 3:43am. He was 28 years old.
