Unlike other former WWF/WWE wrestlers, Farris owns the Honky Tonk Man gimmick/persona outright, whereas countless wrestlers (Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, Billy Gunn, Chyna among others) have had to take on other gimmicks when performing outside of the WWF/WWE.

'Honky Tonk' has rarely been seen without his guitar throughout his wrestling career, and to this day still uses it to attack other wrestlers. Ironically, in real life, he doesn't know how to play a single note on it, which has long been a running-joke among wrestling fans.

Defeated Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship.

His theme music is widely considered the most memorable in wrestling history.

The Honky Tonk Man currently works the independent wrestling scene, wrestling in nearly a dozen different cities, states and a countries each month. He also heads up his most controversial website, where no one is safe.

His fourteen month reign as Intercontinental Champion ended in Summerslam, 1988, when he was defeated by the upstart Ultimate Warrior in less than thirty seconds. The audience in Madison Square Garden erupted in thunderous applause and gave the Warrior a standing ovation.
