Frequently writes songs about women. Dated and lived with Casey Niccoli for nearly ten years. She was the inspiration for many classic Jane's Addiction songs (including "Classic Girl" and "Been Caught Stealing"). The song "Three Days" was about the last weekend the couple spent with another girl (and lover) called Xiola Bleu, who later died of a heroin overdose. The song "Then She Did..." is about Xiola and his late mother.

His mother comitted suicide when he was four years old.

Named his post-Jane's Addiction band "Porno For Pyros" after watching the LA riots on TV.

Named his traveling alternative music and arts festival "Lollapalooza" after a make of Italian icecream he saw advertised on late-night cable TV.

Jane's Addiction reunited again at the first-ever NME Awards USA, with the classic original lineup. This was the first performance with original bassist Eric Avery in over 15 years. (aprile 2008)

Is a vegetarian and a supporter of the "Free Tibet" campaign (and various other human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and the 3rd world "Drop The Debt" campaign.)

Has recorded 20 songs for the new Jane's Addiction album, to be titled 'Strays' in Los Angeles with producer Bob Ezrin. The band currently includes original members Farrell, Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins, as well as bassist Chris Chaney, who replaces original member Eric Avery. A full-scale world tour and headlining gig at Lollapalooza 2003 will follow the album's release. (febbraio 2003)

Reformed Jane's Addiction in 2001 (minus original bass player Eric Avery.) An album of all-new Jane's material is expected in late summer 2002 and will co-incide with the bands first international live dates in nearly 12 years.

Released two albums with his band Porno for Pyros. The self-titled debut was released in 1993 followed by 'Good God's Urge' in 1996.

Released a solo record 'Song yet to be Sung' in 2001 which followed the 1999 compilation release 'Rev', which featured Porno for Pyros, Jane's and solo tracks.

Announced that Janes Addiction has once again broken up after their most successful debut on the Billboard charts with "Strays" He said the band has problems functioning as a unit and that he hopes they will record again someday, but was thankful for the success of "Strays" and that all the band members remain friends. Perry lived Miami,as a child, then later ended up in Los Angeles, where he became the lead singer of "Jane's Addiction". Perry also founded "Lollapalooza" in 1991.
