- After Edwards died in 1971, nearly broke and alone, Walt Disney Productions, remembering his many contributions to their films over the years, paid for his funeral.
- First person to perform the song "Singin' in the Rain", in the film Hollywood che canta (1929).
- Also plays the voice of Dandy Crow (also known as Jim Crow) and sings "When I See an Elephant Fly" in Walt Disney's Dumbo: L'elefante volante (1941).
- Supplied the voice of Jiminy Cricket in Disney's animated classic Pinocchio (1940), also singing "When You Wish upon a Star" (BS:AA) therein. He also reprised the role in Bongo e i tre avventurieri (1947) and many other features for Disney. After Edwards' death in 1971 the role was taken over by Eddie Carroll.

- Cliff Edwards does not appear in the film, but his singing voice is heard during the "Harlem Madness" number in the 1930 MGM picture "They Learned About Women".
- His first wife Gertrude Ryrholm passed away just 2 months after him.
