Marvel Studios' most recent film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, has arrived in movie theaters all around the world. The 37th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's already looking like it's going to be one of this year's biggest movies, which isn't surprising when you consider the franchise, star-power, and the fact that Marvel's First Family are well-known in their own right.

The film brings the iconic quartet of superheroes back to the silver screen for their third big-budget kick-off, but this is the first time their adventures have taken place within the MCU. Clearly, they are all the better off for it, as the film has quickly become the best-reviewed Fantastic Four movie yet.

More smelling salts at the box office this weekend, which will continue to wake up audiences from superhero fatigue as Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps is looking to do between $190 million-$210 million around the world. This comes in the wake of DC Studios’ success with James Gunn’s Superman, which is soaring beyond $409M worldwide. Also, First Steps’ global start here is pegged at being around Superman‘s $220M.

The international box office projection for Fantastic Four is $90M-$100M, with room for upside, particularly if families lean in given the film’s themes. The domestic projection is anywhere between $100M-$110M at 4,100 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. The movie starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner and Ebon Moss-Bachrach movie has all the galactic powers of premium upcharges, i.e., PLFs, Dolby, Imax, Dbox, 4Dx, etc. Previews stateside start 2 p.m. Thursday.

Captain America: Brave New World opened earlier this year to 46% on Rotten Tomatoes and ended its run at the global box office with a disappointing $415 million.

The movie got caught up in 2023's Hollywood strikes, but was also heavily reshot. All of The Leader's scenes were scrapped, the final battle removed Isaiah Bradley and Sabra, and Giancarlo Esposito's Sidewinder replaced the Serpent Society.

Sadly, not everyone can make it to California and be part of the blue carpet event, but Disney+ is coming to save the day for everyone who wants a front-row seat to the action. Collider can report exclusively that the House of Mouse's flagship streaming service will live stream the entire blue carpet premiere event for subscribers, in a first for the platform. Starting at 7 Pm Pt on premiere day, viewers can tune in to see all the behind-the-scenes action on the ground, from celebrity arrivals to cast interviews, to make it feel like you're right there for the big day.

A new TV spot for The Fantastic Four: First Steps aired during yesterday evening's ESPYs, and while it's primarily made up of familiar footage, there are still some exciting new scenes from the MCU movie.

That includes a shot of the Silver Surfer riding across the water on her surfboard, and Mister Fantastic and The Thing doing battle with Galactus. Neither of them appears to be faring particularly well, though it seems they're attempting to distract the Devourer of Worlds.

Variety has published a piece on The Fantastic Four: First Steps director Matt Shakman, explaining that he was initially working on the next Star Trek movie when Marvel Studios found itself without a director for the reboot (that came after Spider-Man: No Way Home helmer Jon Watts' departure from the project).

Explaining that Star Trek 4 "had stages" and "we had crew...we were moving ahead," the filmmaker added...

Exclusive: The 29th LA Shorts International Film Festival is about to get underway in downtown Los Angeles, an Oscar- and BAFTA-qualifying event that will showcase 470 films between July 16-28.

The festival opens at Regal LA Live with a selection of four shorts including Como si la tierra se las hubiera tragado, directed by Natalia León, an animated short that won the jury award at the Sundance Film Festival.

“In Olivia’s Mexican hometown, femicide and gender-based violence are increasing at an alarming rate,” notes a description of León’s film in the program guide for Hot Docs, where the film also played. “Upon her return after a long absence, she quickly notices the city walls are covered with posters of missing women. The mistreatment of women is pervasive, and the once-vibrant city is gradually losing its vitality.”

After playing a key role in the original Netflix Daredevil series - as well as Jessica Jones and The Punisher - fans were surprised not to see Detective Sergeant Brett Mahoney return for Daredevil: Born Again.

Mahoney was determined to remain honest in a department full of dirty cops, and even though he was against Daredevil's (Charlie Cox) vigilante methods, he aided Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson in their cases and ultimately came to see the Man Without Fear as a force for good.

Mahoney was instrumental in putting Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) behind bars towards the end of season 3.

James Gunn's feature film opener to his brand new Dcu is soaring high in theaters, but how does the director feel about jumping from one comic book film universe to another? As Superman racks up rave review after rave review, fans are reminiscing over the Guardians of the Galaxy director's MCU history. Gunn breathed life back into the MCU by writing and directing the most consistent and well-received trilogy in the franchise. Yet, Gunn wasn't safe from his past, being temporarily fired for offensive, and straight-up bad, jokes. The comic book movie king is now flying high at the head of the Dcu, but recently he took some time to recap his rocky relationship with Disney's MCU.

As a guest on the Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast, Gunn talked about his switch from the MCU to Dcu. After being fired from the MCU in 2018, he and Peter Safran...

As James Gunn‘s Dcu launches with the premiere of Superman, his Marvel days appear to be in the past for now.

Following the director’s 2018 ousting from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Gunn admitted he “thought my career was over,” but luckily he and Peter Safran were tapped to co-head DC Studios in 2022, opening the door for his next superhero project.

“Toby Emmerich from Warner Bros. at the time came to me. He’s like, ‘James Gunn’s Superman?'” he recalled on the Armchair Expert podcast. “I said, ‘I don’t know, man.’ And then he was like, ‘Well, what about Suicide Squad?’ So I came up with an idea. I went and pitched it. They were like, ‘Yes, let’s do it.'”

Earlier this year, we finally got confirmation that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones for the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, and the actress has now teased her return as the hard-drinking Pi during an interview with Screen Rant.

As you might expect, Ritter didn't get into plot details, simply noting that she is "thrilled to be back in Jessica's boots. There's more story for her and it's really exciting."

"Oh, it's gritty," she added. "It feels big too. The crew's amazing. I've had an amazing experience. I can't say anything, but I love being with Charlie [Cox]. It was as if no time had passed. Like, my first day, I was looking around like we're back. But juxtaposing it with Mia [her Dexter Resurrection character] and Jessica has been really creatively fulfilling for me as an artist and just what a big, big banner year I'm having. I...

Well, it looks like that might be it for Daredevil: Born Again set photos for a while. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has taken to Instagram to confirm that shooting has wrapped on the upcoming second season. Reshoots are always possible, but it will now move into post-production.

When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced by Marvel Studios, it was as an 18-episode series. That was soon broken up into two seasons, though we'd later learn that season 2 will consist of 8 episodes rather than 9.

As for a potential season 3, that's been talked about but isn't likely to be confirmed until Disney+ sees how the second batch of episodes performs.

There were rumors that Sacha Baron Cohen had joined the MCU as Mephisto even before Ironheart entered production over 4 years ago, but Marvel Studios never actually made his casting official, and still managed to make his debut in the season finale feel like a pretty big deal.

As expected, the demonic sorcerer turns out to be the one who provided The Hood with his powerful cloak, but when Riri Williams defeats her former ally, Mephisto sets his eye on the budding hero instead.

After a sit-down, Williams strikes a Faustian bargain with "The Devil," with her friend Natalie resurrected in exchange for... her soul? That appears to be the implication, though what this means for Ironheart's "superhero" status moving forward remains to be seen.

Marvel has now shared a new look at Cohen as Mephisto in a brief outtake video. We also have a new teaser spotlighting shots from all six episodes.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige accidentally predicted the future when “Superman” director James Gunn first told him he was going to work with DC.

Gunn recalled the prophetic moment during his appearance on this week’s episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast. The “Guardians of the Galaxy” filmmaker revealed how his firing from Marvel in 2018 over some resurfaced, poor-taste joke tweets led to him being hired by Warner Bros. to direct 2021’s “The Suicide Squad.” It apparently all began with former Warner Bros. Chairman Toby Emmerich asking him to direct a “Superman” movie for the studio.

“Toby Emmerich from Warner Bros. at the time came to me. He’s like, ‘James Gunn’s ‘Superman’,” Gunn told “Armchair Expert” host Dax Shepard. “I said, ‘I don’t know, man.’ And then he was like, ‘Well, what about ‘Suicide Squad’?’ So I came up with an idea. I went and pitched it.

Captain America: Brave New World may have gone through more extensive reshoots than any MCU movie before it. The superpowered Serpent Society was cut, all of The Leader's scenes were reshot after his appearance was redesigned, and Sidewinder was added as a new villain.

Those are just a few of the changes (another saw Red Hulk still free and keeping watch over Betty Ross from afar). We've seen promo art showing Isaiah Bradley wearing a costume, but that's now been fully revealed in a photo showcasing the movie's stunt team.

It's previously been reported that Isaiah and Sabra suited up to help Sam Wilson fight Red Hulk in the final battle. For whatever reason, Marvel Studios decided that the new Captain America should go it alone, and Bradley never got his superhero moment as a result.

There must have been something fundamentally wrong with the original cut of Captain America: Brave New World...

Reshoots completely reshaped Captain America: Brave New World, and the Serpent Society in its original form ended up on the cutting room floor.

Rosa Salazar and Seth Rollins were cast as Diamondback and Cobra, and were in the movie long enough for the former to receive her own Happy Meal toy last year. When all was said and done, the Serpent Society became Sidewinder's grounded (some might say "generic") group of mercenaries, the Serpents.

Thanks to The Artbook Collector, we now have a new look at Cobra and Asp, along with a first look at Red Hulk's mustache and beard, neither of which made it into the movie. Rather than follow the comics by having President Thaddeus Ross' facial hair vanish when he transforms—which was largely done to hide Red Hulk's identity—it was explained that he shaved it off during his Presidential campaign.

The final three episodes of Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+, and Marvel Studios has shared some new poster art highlighting key moments from the penultimate episode, "Karma's A Glitch," and the eventful finale, "The Past is the Past."

The first look at Eyes of Wakanda, the new Black Panther spinoff from Disney+ and Marvel Animation, is finally here. The series, made up of four animated episodes, is set to premiere on August 27th. Fans now have a chance to see the exciting new adventure through the official sneak peek and images that were recently released.

Captain America: Brave New World underwent significant changes during reshoots, with the Serpent Society left on the cutting room floor and The Leader's appearance completely overhauled after all of Tim Blake Nelson's scenes were reshot.

The idea was to make Samuel Sterns less of a mastermind and more of a sympathetic figure. However, in doing so, his comic-accurate head was replaced with a zombified, brain-shaped...something (which most fans agreed was a total misfire).

Thanks to The Artbook Collector, we have a first look at the many alternate designs considered by Marvel Studios for Captain America: Brave New World. These were first revealed in the newly released "Art of" book for the movie.

Almost all of the designs are better than what ended up in the movie, with The Leader given a comic-inspired costume to go with his enlarged head. Some versions are really out there, though, including one...

The back half of the first season of Ironheart arrives on Disney+ tomorrow, and we recently asked you to let us know what you made of the first three episodes.

The poll results are in, and 1202 of you voted. With 30% of the votes (365), the majority of you felt that Marvel's latest McU-set series was "Good," or 3/5. Next was the most negative option, with 279 (23%) of you choosing "Awful," or 1/5. Very good (4/5) was next with 278 votes, followed by "Disappointing" (2/5).

Finally, only 11% of you (127) picked the most positive option, "Excellent," or 5/5.

Earlier today, Rotten Tomatoes announced that Ironheart is now officially "certified fresh" at 86%, making it the third highest-rated MCU Phase 5 project on the review aggregator.

The full review embargo for Ironheart lifted just as the show hit Disney+ with its three-episode premiere last week, and things weren't looking so great for Marvel Studios' latest McU-set series initially.

Though it never seemed to be in danger of being hit with the dreaded green splat on Rotten Tomatoes, Ironheart did start out at 68%, and was hovering around 71% for the next fee days. Quite a few new verdicts were added over the weekend, however, and Riri Williams' first solo outing is now officially "certified fresh" at 86% based on 75 reviews.

Fans have not been quite so positive about the show, but it's worth keeping in mind that critics have seen all six episodes (the final three arrive tomorrow).

It's fair to say that Marvel Television's Ironheart was never one of the studio's most anticipated projects, and even though the recent three-episode premiere did make a few converts, the series continues to be bombarded with a lot of negativity.

Star Anthony Ramos, who plays the villainous Parker Robbins/The Hood, was asked about the backlash to the show during a recent interview, and responded with the following.

“Everybody’s gonna say whatever they wanna say, but at the end of the day we know what we made, and we’re proud of what we made. When you're the first of a thing... well not necessarily the first, but we are different. Hey, at least they're talking about it.

It's worth pointing out that the series has come in for criticism for being too formulaic, and not doing enough to distinguish itself from the usual MCU fare.

At any rate,...

Marvel's Agatha All Along introduced two powerful new characters who are sure to play significant roles in the magical/supernatural corner of the MCU down the line. A mysterious "Teen" (Joe Locke) who was confirmed to be Wanda Maximoff's (Elizabeth Olsen) son Billy Kaplan/Wiccan in the season finale (though it was one of the worst-kept secrets in the MCU), and the personification of Lady Death herself (Aubrey Plaza).

We've seen some early concept art for Wiccan and Death already, and we now have some more alternate designs from the recently-released Art of the Series book.

The costumes both characters ended up wearing in the show were arguably more comic-accurate than anything seen in this artwork, but there are some interesting looks here.

It's no secret that Phases 4 and 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe had their ups and downs. Since the unprecedented success of the Infinity Saga, particularly after "Avengers: Endgame," it's been an uphill battle for Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, who, in many ways, became a victim of his success. While there have been some standout home runs, such as "WandaVision" and "Spider-Man: No Way Home," the post-"Endgame" MCU has spawned some of the most uninspired entries in the franchise, including the abysmal "Secret Invasion" and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania."

James Gunn, whose swan song with Marvel Studios came in the form of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," has shared his thoughts on why he believes the McU's woes speak to the struggles of the greater movie industry. Ironheart returns for its final three episodes this Tuesday, and Marvel Studios has teased the MCU debut of a certain character with a shadowy first look (via Threads).

We're sure most of you already know who we're referring to, but just in case, here's your spoiler warning.

Fans were convinced that Mephisto would turn out to be the big bad of WandaVision, but the demonic villain was never revealed to be the one pulling the strings in Westview. It's since become a bit of a running joke that the character was being teased in the various Disney+ shows (and even some movies) that followed, but - and even Marvel seems to be fully aware that the cat is out of the bag at this stage - the powerful sorcerer is indeed set to appear in Ironheart, and he is played by Sacha Baron Cohen.

Marvel Studios recently announced that Thunderbolts*, aka The New Avengers, is set to debut in Digital devices on July 1 before hitting shelves on Blu-ray/DVD from July 29, and a couple of the bonus features have now been released online.

The featurette focuses on arguably the movie's most intriguing character, Bob Reynolds, aka the incredibly powerful Sentry, aka the potentially apocalyptic entity known as The Void. Lewis Pullman, who essentially plays three different people, explains his approach to the role, and the video also includes some new behind-the-scenes footage of Sentry in action.

The gag reel is a little on the short side, but there are some fun out-takes, and the clip ends with Julia Louis-Dreyfus improving (presumably) her lines from an early scene.

Marvel's latest Disney+ series, Ironheart, debuted with its first three episodes earlier this week. Though initial reactions were definitely leaning positive, full reviews have been more mixed, and the show now seems to have settled on Rotten Tomatoes with a so-so 69% based on 55 verdicts.

There was never really much hype behind this one, as Riri Williams simply wasn't a Marvel Comics character the majority of fans had been clamouring to see get her own series. A muted response to Riri's MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever didn't help matters, nor did the trailers that were released in the build-up to the show's premiere.

The first three episodes of Marvel Television's Ironheart are now streaming on Disney+, and the show's main cast members have been fielding questions about what's to come in the back half of the season.

The actors have mostly kept things pretty vague up until now, but when asked about a major cameo in an upcoming episode during an interview with Et, Dominique Thorne (Riri Williams) and Anthony Ramos (The Hood) were surprisingly forthcoming about a certain long-awaited MCU debut.

“We know how much the fans, and how long the fans, have been waiting for that," said Thorne. "For it to be in this show that they get him, let's go.”

“He's one of the elite actors of our time, too,” added Ramos.

Before Zeke Stane steps into the limelight as the main villain in Ironheart, it’s worth noting he already had a major Marvel moment over a decade ago. In Iron Man: Rise of Technovore (2013), a Japanese anime film by Madhouse, Stane played the central antagonist, going head-to-head with Tony Stark in a high-tech showdown. Updated, June 25: A fourth trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four: The First Steps has arrived.

Right as the quartet is about to take the stage on The Ted Gilbert Show, which we’ve seen in previous clips, they get alerts on their retro wristbands. The same alert comes as they are about to sit down to dinner. Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer then floats out of the darkness to “herald his beginning” meaning Galactus.

There are also several attempts in the clip to get The Thing to say “It’s clobberin’ time!” which he repeatedly asserts is from the comics and not something he likes to say.

At the end of the third episode, Riri Williams was forced to leave John, the criminal cousin of Parker Robbins, aka The Hood, behind to die in order to maintain her cover. During their battle, Riri drops a piece of Joe McGillicuddy's tech, which is sure to lead the cops right to her new ally's door.

As we now know, Joe is actually the son of Iron Man baddie Obadiah Stane. In the comics, Ezekiel "Zeke" Stane augments his own body with hyper-advanced bionics that allow him to innately wield many of the same abilities as Iron Man.

Last night's social media reactions were largely positive, but full reviews often tell a slightly different story. What's the consensus on Riri Williams' solo series?

While most of the write-ups are definitely a little more critical overall, very few are outright negative, and as we write this, Ironheart has generated an early Rotten Tomatoes score of 68% based on 25 reviews.

Quite a few of the reviews note that the show gets off to a slow start, before building to an exciting finale. The cast also come in for high praise, with lead Dominique Thorne and Lyric Ross as Riri's deceased best friend turned AI N.A.T.A.L.I.E. mentioned as standouts. Though the VFX are polished, the action sequences are said to be mostly bland and unengaging.

John Staub has shared some new Thunderbolts* concept art featuring alternate character designs for Bob/the Sentry's villainous alter-ego, the Void.

In the movie, this all-powerful entity took the form of a fully silhouetted Sentry with pin-pricks of light shining through his eyes, but it seems some very different looks were also considered.

A few of these could be viewed as being more comic-accurate than the Void we saw on the screen, although none really come close to the character's more monstrous/demonic depictions on the page.

Marvel Studios’ Blade reboot, featuring Mahershala Ali as the vampire hunter, remains in active development despite years of challenges, according to the most recent report. The project, aiming for a possible 2028 release, has faced numerous setbacks since its announcement.

Back in July 2019, Marvel president Kevin Feige introduced Ali as Blade during San Diego Comic-Con, thrilling fans with the prospect of the Day-Walker’s return.

Ali, known for his role as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, even voiced the character in the 2021 Eternals. However, the excitement has been tempered by repeated delays.

The project has seen a revolving door of talent. Directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange were attached at different points, but both have since left, with Demange reportedly exiting in March 2025 due to difficulties in collaboration.

The long-delayed Blade reboot is still alive at Marvel Studios, but it’s been anything but smooth sailing.

According to recent reports, the movie is still in development and could finally hit theaters in 2028, though fans have heard that before.

The new Blade film was first announced back in 2019 when Mahershala Ali joined the project. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige made the announcement during San Diego Comic-Con that year. Ali, who previously played Cottonmouth in Luke Cage, was excited to take on the role. He even made a brief voice cameo in Eternals in 2021.

We've been hearing rumors that Mephisto might be set to make his MCU debut in Ironheart for years (it can be easy to forget that the show has been in development since 2021), and we may finally have confirmation that the character will indeed make an appearance in the latest Disney+ series.

Or at least, some version of the character.

We're not really sure what this means (Mephisto and Dormammu are obviously two completely different characters in the comics), but is it possible we'll get some kind of amalgam of both of these villains? Dormammu already featured in Doctor Strange, but there's nothing to say the powerful sorcerer couldn't decide to join forces with Mephisto to form some kind of demonic dynamic duo... in the same body?

The scooper hasn't elaborated, so we're really just spitballing here, but you...
