- Cover attended Denison University, graduating in 1951. He was one of 12 members of the Denison Players, a troupe who acted as an exchange group first around the United Kingdom in the summer of 1953, and then around U.S. military bases in Europe and East Asia from 1954 to 1958.
- Played opposite African-American actress Roxie Roker as the character of Tom Willis on I Jefferson (1975). They became one of the first interracial marriages to be seen weekly on prime-time television.
- Originally from the classical stage where he played parts in such Shakespearean plays as "Julius Caesar," "Hamlet," "Macbeth" (title role) and "Henry IV, Part I".
- His career spanned four decades in show business.
- Wife Mary Bradford Stone was a dance company director. Their children are Bradford, Franklin and Susan.
- Has one son, Bradford Cover, and one daughter, Susan.
