Timothy Carey(1929-1994)

During filming of Paths of Glory (1957) Carey was constantly disruptive on the set. This and his erratic acting irritated the film's star, Kirk Douglas. Carey also faked his own kidnapping for personal publicity, which resulted in director Stanley Kubrick and producer James B. Harris to fire him.

[Charles Herbert, who as a child actor worked with Carey on The Boy and the Pirates (1960)] He, on that movie, probably scared me more than Il colosso di New York (1958)! But he was a nice man, and he always tried to make you feel, "I'm not really crazy," and you would say, "Okay." And then he would walk away and you'd go, "He's CRAZY!" He was a scary man.
