Kaye started accordion lessons at the age of seven, and still plays today. Other instruments she has played over the years include ukulele, piano, guitar, clarinet, flute, tenor sax, and baroque recorder (soprano, alto and tenor).

One of the founding members of the New York City-based clown troupe, Conniptions, Ink, which performed in and around the city in the late 1970's.

Studied at the Henry Le Tang School of Dance, the Weist-Barron School of Television and the New York Academy of Theatrical Arts.
