He has reprised his role of the Master in the Big Finish audio dramas "Dust Breeding" and "Master". Both of these starred Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor.

After Roger Delgado and Peter Pratt, he was the third actor to play the Master, the Doctor's greatest enemy, in Doctor Who (1963). He played the role in the 1981 serial "The Keeper of Traken". He was succeeded in the role by Anthony Ainley, Gordon Tipple, Eric Roberts, Sir Derek Jacobi and John Simm.

Beevers has also worked as writer and director, notably at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond-upon-Thames. An aficionado of the works of George Eliot, he has adapted Adam Bede and Silas Marner for the stage. He has authored the plays The Doctor's Story, Dorothea's Story and Fred & Mary.

Studied history at Oxford University before training as an actor at LAMDA.

Half-brother of Diana Beevers.

Beevers was previously married to the actress Caroline John, who appeared as Doctor Who's (Jon Pertwee) companion Liz Shaw.
