Whilst working as newsreader for Southern Television he once interviewed .Ball, Lucille' in a cupboard at the Hilton Hotel in London whilst a party was going on all around them.

Was forced to retire in 1961 after developing polio. Subsequently worked as a newsreader at Southern Television and became head of TV programming with Gibraltar Broadcasting in 1964.

Began his career on stage in his teens and served in WWII in the British army's theatrical unit. Later moved to radio and TV.
