“Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin is among the famous faces who took part in Colin Hanks’ new documentary, “John Candy: I Like Me.” During his appearance, the former child star recalled the late actor having a clear “instinct” about Culkin’s father early on — and according to Culkin, Candy was one of the first to pick up on what a “monster” the man was.
The doc premiered on Thursday night at the Toronto International Film Festival and tells the story of the comedy legend’s life, career and death, via those who were closest to him. Candy, of course, worked with Culkin on the film “Uncle Buck,” just five years before his death.

Before “Home Alone” turned Macaulay Culkin into a child actor icon, it was “Uncle Buck” (released in theaters one year before) that first put the young star on the map. The John Hughes-directed comedy was headlined by John Candy as a reckless bachelor who is forced to babysit his nieces and nephews. In the new documentary “John Candy: I Like Me,” which opened the Toronto International Film Festival, Culkin remembers Candy’s kindness on set and reveals Candy was one of the first people to notice there was trouble brewing at home.
“I think that’s why that’s one of my favorite performances, because I think he put a lot of himself into it,” Culkin said (via Entertainment Weekly). “[Most actors] don’t know how or don’t like to work with kids… they’re tricky to work with, but John was always really kind and really good. He showed a lot of respect.

Will Broadway’s upcoming fall season match the starry line-up of last spring, when George Clooney, Denzel Washington, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook and other performers best known for their film and TV work brought in big audiences and bigger bucks?
In a word, yes.
Among the big names taking the stage in the months ahead are Keanu Reeves, Bobby Cannavale, Carrie Coon, Mark Strong and Lea Michele as well as such Broadway stalwarts as Neil Patrick Harris, Kristin Chenoweth, Aaron Tveit, James Corden and Laurie Metcalf.
Some new plays are in the mix, as well as an original musical (The Queen of Versailles) and plenty of revivals, a return engagement (Beetlejuice) and even a magic show (Rob Lake Magic with Special Guests The Muppets).
By the way, Off Broadway...

Independent film is going through tough times. This year’s Sundance Film Festival had a record-low number of sales in January. As the broader film industry battles contraction and a challenging box office environment, it’s getting harder for anything without IP or A-list stars to get made — especially without the backing of one of the major studios.
Which makes Topic Studios’ run this year so remarkable. The production company run by founder and CEO Michael Bloom was behind three indies that secured theatrical releases, all opening in theaters over the last month.

With a stellar 93% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.6/10 rating on IMDb, the satirical superhero series quickly became an instant hit among streaming audiences. Director Chris Columbus, who worked on the first two Harry Potter movies, does not want Hollywood to remake his 1990 holiday classic Home Alone. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Columbus admitted that rebooting the first movie would be a huge mistake.
I think it’s a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago. I think it should be left alone.
Columbus made the above statement about the thirty-five-year-old movie, admitting it was pretty much a product of its time, and it was difficult to recreate the original’s magic for a second time. As a result, Columbus felt that Hollywood needed to leave the iconic movie alone, and he might have a point.

Jeremy Strong had an annoying habit that even challenged his co-stars to work with him in Succession. The hit show has earned Kendall Roy a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama, respectively.
But several complaints can be heard about Jeremy Strong being too coercive and harsh in his skill of ‘method acting’ on the sets of Succession. In Town & Country’s March 2023 cover story, his fellow co-star and father in the show, Brian Cox, who portrays Logan Roy, opened up about his thoughts and feelings on Strong’s method acting skills, saying,
“Oh, it’s f**king annoying. Don’t get me going on it.”
But does his nature of input to his role make him the perfect embodiment of Kendall Roy, or is it just a way that Jeremy Strong rehearses for his roles?...

As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we’re excited to share a never-before-seen image from the production that puts the two leading actors in the same frame. This time around, they’ll be playing enemies — although Stone’s character has absolutely no idea that she’s made a dangerous nemesis in Plemons’ Teddy. The film, which also features supporting performances from Alicia Silverstone (Clueless), Stavros Halkias (Let’s Start a Cult) and newcomer Aidan Delbis, serves as an English-language remake of Jang Joon-hwan’s 2003 feature, Save the Green Planet! and already looks like it has all the makings of another hit from the director of The Favourite and Poor Things.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 10 years since Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence last played the fan-favorite characters Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, respectively, in 2015’s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 2. With The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping set to hit theaters on November 20, 2026, fans have been buzzing about whether any familiar faces from the original franchise might return — especially Josh Hutcherson, who portrayed Peeta Mellark across all four films in the blockbuster YA adaptation. Now, Hutcherson is weighing in. Speaking to Brit + Co, the actor finally broke his silence about possibly returning to the world of Panem.
“That’d be cool. No, I know nothing in that world right now. Hunger Games is amazing, and I’ve loved it for many years and I will love it forever.”
While Hutcherson hasn’t been approached to appear in Sunrise on the Reaping, the door isn’t closed, especially considering Peeta and Katniss do make a brief appearance in the book. Suzanne Collins’ newest installment takes place 24 years before the 74th Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy during his deadly run through the arena.

When The Hunger Games franchise released its final entry, Mockingjay – Part 2, in 2015, it was difficult to see how the dystopian adventure series could continue after the story wrapped. However, a decade later, The Hunger Games keeps thriving.
With a prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, already out, and another prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, on the way, fans of the franchise had a lot to look forward to. But the feature films aren't the only new additions to the franchise, as The Hunger Games is officially becoming a stage play. In a new announcement on Instagram, The Hunger Games officially cast the new Katniss Everdeen: Mia Carragher for the upcoming play in London.

Elle Fanning said Hunger Games fans are the reason she was cast as Effie Trinket in the upcoming prequel film.
During a recent interview with MTV, the actress chatted about her casting in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and taking the role over from Elizabeth Banks, who portrayed an older version of Effie in the franchise’s first four films.
“It was funny because I think fans made this happen in a way,” Fanning said. “The studio [Lionsgate] said they were getting kind of hounded online, like, ‘Elle needs to play Effie.’”
The A Complete Unknown star added that she’s especially excited to play Effie because she’s been “a huge fan” for some time.
“Effie has always been my favorite character,” she explained. “I think Elizabeth Banks brought so much — just even beyond those books — layers to that character. I love her, and I have got to talk to Elizabeth.

Have you ever turned on an episode of The Simpsons and felt like there was something missing? A pub somehow even grimier than Moe’s Tavern? A “Golden God” screaming amid a sea of yellow? Five of the absolute worst people you’ve ever seen scheming, scamming and plotting their way through Springfield?
If so, you just might be in luck.
During The Simpsons’ panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con on Saturday, producers revealed that one member of the Paddy’s Pub Gang will soon drop by Evergreen Terrace, confirming that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton will appear in the show’s upcoming 37th season.
The third Always Sunny actor to be featured on The Simpsons — Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito have both previously lent their voices to the long-running series — Howerton is just one of several guest stars slated for a trip to Springfield next TV season.

In a free-wheeling panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, creator Matt Groening and The Simpsons producing team spent half the time addressing current events and the other half teasing the upcoming 37th season of the Emmy-winning show, including the show's 800th episode.

ScreenRant's Zachary Brandon attended The Simpsons panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, where the long-running animated series teased a star-filled episode in its upcoming season 37 while also taking a dig at Marvel. Episode 800 will also not air alone. On the night it airs in February, two episodes of The Simpsons will actually be broadcast instead. Just what is being planned for the episode, however, is "top secret" for now.

As the sixth and final season of “Solar Opposites” is set to premiere, the cast and crew are prepared to say goodbye to the Opposite family for now.
“The aliens are leaving, but we got so many more stories to tell to get people prepared for that,” said co-creator and executive producer Mike McMahan at the Comic-Con Variety Studio presented by Google TV.
As the series premiered in 2020, “Solar Opposites” has grown to explore various sectors of space with new species for the family to cause chaos with. As different characters interact with the Opposite family, the theme of acceptance and learning from new intergalactic species play a big part into the family members as they continue their space travels.
“They’re queer, gender neutral, immigrant aliens, they love everything we love. Just because they’re different doesn’t mean they’re not different from any other family,” says executive producer Sydney Ryan.

At this year's Emmys, The Pitt did quite well by scoring 13 nominations overall. Its star, Noah Wyle, is currently the frontrunner to win Best Drama Actor, according to the Gold Derby predictions. Rangeen, the new nifty 9-part series from Amazon, is not a flawless presentation. Far from it. Rather, it revels in its imperfections: a failed marriage, the fractured ethics of a high-falutin journalist, a wife caught in the act with a gigolo, a wasted butcher’s son, a mysterious woman with a penchant for crocodiles and hired sex…
The characters as they emerge, sink their teeth into the vividly written script which allows the characters to breathe even as they suffocate themselves in their own destiny; none more so than the protagonist Adarsh Johri who is to this series what Kieran Culkin was in A Real Pain: a man so selfdestructive he doesn’t even know he is destroying his world.
The series, directed confidently if a tad unevenly by Pranjal Dua and Kopal Naithani, opens with Adarsh catching his wife Naina in the act with a young gigolo Sunny...

The comedic stylings of writer, actor, stand-up comedian, and executive producer Ramy Youssef tend to be laced with tragedy. His A24 Hulu series "Ramy" is as heartbreaking as it is humorous, following its Egyptian-American protagonist Ramy (Youssef) as he tries to navigate his faith and identity to mostly tragic ends. Similarly, his executive-produced A24 Netflix series "Mo," about Mo (Mo Amer), an undocumented descendant of Palestinian refugees living in Houston, is also frequently rather sad as it confronts the terrible reality of being undocumented in America. Both shows use a bit of surreal humor and absurdity to help make the more depressing elements slightly more palatable and blend the comedic and tragic tones, but Youssef's newest show takes this concept to brand new heights.
On the A24-produced Prime Video series "#1 Happy Family USA," Youssef and co-creator Pam Brady tackle what it was like to grow up as an Egyptian-American...
