“Home Alone” star Macaulay Culkin is among the famous faces who took part in Colin Hanks’ new documentary, “John Candy: I Like Me.” During his appearance, the former child star recalled the late actor having a clear “instinct” about Culkin’s father early on — and according to Culkin, Candy was one of the first to pick up on what a “monster” the man was.

The doc premiered on Thursday night at the Toronto International Film Festival and tells the story of the comedy legend’s life, career and death, via those who were closest to him. Candy, of course, worked with Culkin on the film “Uncle Buck,” just five years before his death.

Before “Home Alone” turned Macaulay Culkin into a child actor icon, it was “Uncle Buck” (released in theaters one year before) that first put the young star on the map. The John Hughes-directed comedy was headlined by John Candy as a reckless bachelor who is forced to babysit his nieces and nephews. In the new documentary “John Candy: I Like Me,” which opened the Toronto International Film Festival, Culkin remembers Candy’s kindness on set and reveals Candy was one of the first people to notice there was trouble brewing at home.

“I think that’s why that’s one of my favorite performances, because I think he put a lot of himself into it,” Culkin said (via Entertainment Weekly). “[Most actors] don’t know how or don’t like to work with kids… they’re tricky to work with, but John was always really kind and really good. He showed a lot of respect.

Columbus made the above statement about the thirty-five-year-old movie, admitting it was pretty much a product of its time, and it was difficult to recreate the original’s magic for a second time. A new filming update has arrived for The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, revealing the arena the tributes will be fighting in. Lionsgate has officially started production on The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, with cameras rolling in Spain on the highly anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ latest novel. A new behind-the-scenes video released by the studio shows the crew and director Francis Lawrence kicking off the shoot, signaling the first step toward the film’s November 20, 2026 worldwide release.

With The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping set to hit theaters on November 20, 2026, fans have been buzzing about whether any familiar faces from the original franchise might return — especially Josh Hutcherson, who portrayed Peeta Mellark across all four films in the blockbuster YA adaptation. Now, Hutcherson is weighing in. Speaking to Brit + Co, the actor finally broke his silence about possibly returning to the world of Panem.

While Hutcherson hasn’t been approached to appear in Sunrise on the Reaping, the door isn’t closed, especially considering Peeta and Katniss do make a brief appearance in the book. Suzanne Collins’ newest installment takes place 24 years before the 74th Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy during his deadly run through the arena.

With the next prequel in The Hunger Games franchise hitting theaters on Nov. 20, 2026, at least one familiar face is open to returning.

Josh Hutcherson, who originated the role of Peeta Mellark in the 2012 adaptation of Suzanne Collins‘ first novel in the YA series, recently addressed the possibility of reprising the role in Sunrise on the Reaping, which has been rounding out its cast in recent months.

When The Hunger Games franchise released its final entry, Mockingjay – Part 2, in 2015, it was difficult to see how the dystopian adventure series could continue after the story wrapped. However, a decade later, The Hunger Games keeps thriving.

With a prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, already out, and another prequel, Sunrise on the Reaping, on the way, fans of the franchise had a lot to look forward to. But the feature films aren't the only new additions to the franchise, as The Hunger Games is officially becoming a stage play. In a new announcement on Instagram, The Hunger Games officially cast the new Katniss Everdeen: Mia Carragher for the upcoming play in London.

Nearly four months after The Simpsons was renewed for four additional seasons and three months since the animated show last aired, Fox has announced when fans can expect the legendary family back on small screens. The most recent season of The Simpsons, Season 36, was broadcast from September 29, 2024, to May 18, 2025; however, before the finale, the sitcom was renewed through Season 40, with each installment comprising 15 episodes.

As part of this fall's schedule for Fox’s Animation Domination, The Simpsons will return with Season 37 on Sunday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m., according to TV Insider. Additionally, featured in the new season is an all-star guest list led by Succession’s Kieran Culkin, as announced during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 26. The network’s animated programming block will also see Universal Basic GuysSeason 2 air at 8:30 p.m. after The Simpsons. Krapopolis Season 3 and Bob’s Burgers Season 16 then follow at 9:00 p.

Elle Fanning said Hunger Games fans are the reason she was cast as Effie Trinket in the upcoming prequel film.

During a recent interview with MTV, the actress chatted about her casting in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping and taking the role over from Elizabeth Banks, who portrayed an older version of Effie in the franchise’s first four films.

“It was funny because I think fans made this happen in a way,” Fanning said. “The studio [Lionsgate] said they were getting kind of hounded online, like, ‘Elle needs to play Effie.’”

The A Complete Unknown star added that she’s especially excited to play Effie because she’s been “a huge fan” for some time.

“Effie has always been my favorite character,” she explained. “I think Elizabeth Banks brought so much — just even beyond those books — layers to that character. I love her, and I have got to talk to Elizabeth.

Elle Fanning said she was a fan of the character Effie Trinket before she cast to take on the role in the next “Hunger Games” film. Fanning has fans of her own to thank for getting to play the part.

The actress, who will soon star in “Predator: Badlands,” sat down with “Badlands” director Dan Trachtenberg and co-star Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi for an interview at San Diego Comic-Con. At the end of the interview, panel moderator Josh Horowitz turned the conversation to “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” congratulating Fanning on what he called “perfect casting.”

During The Simpsons’ panel at San Diego’s Comic-Con on Saturday, producers revealed that one member of the Paddy’s Pub Gang will soon drop by Evergreen Terrace, confirming that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton will appear in the show’s upcoming 37th season.

The third Always Sunny actor to be featured on The Simpsons — Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito have both previously lent their voices to the long-running series — Howerton is just one of several guest stars slated for a trip to Springfield next TV season.

The Simpsons, television’s longest-running scripted series and an 85% fresh mainstay on Rotten Tomatoes, is gearing up for its 37th installment with a star-studded guest list, headlined by Succession Emmy nominee Kieran Culkin.

Per Variety, this was announced during the show’s San Diego Comic-Con panel on July 26. Culkin is reportedly joining a guest lineup that also includes Glenn Howerton (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Albert Brooks, Cole Escola (Oh Mary), Danny Pudi (Community), Adam Pally, and both Brendan andDomhnall Gleeson, appearing together on the show for the first time. The series is also set to air its 800th episode in February 2026, featuring two original episodes airing back-to-back. “It’s a big deal to do 800 shows,” said executive producer Matt Selman, promising something “top secret” but “the best 800th episode of anything you’ve ever seen.”

That’s not all though — there was one early preview shared during the panel as well.

The Simpsons Season 37 will kick off in fall 2025 — and some of its guest stars were recently unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con. ScreenRant's Zachary Brandon attended The Simpsons panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, where the long-running animated series teased a star-filled episode in its upcoming season 37 while also taking a dig at Marvel. The panelists all entered Ballroom 20 dressed as Doctor Doom, in cheeky reference to last year's Marvel panel, which revealed Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as the villain.

During the panel, The Simpsons writer Matt Selman teased one episode will have cameos from Glenn Howerton, Danny Pudi, Adam Pally, Albert Brooks, Cole Escola, Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson at the same time. Another episode will feature Kieran Culkin in a "juicy role."

ScreenRant's own Brandon Zachary attended the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con panel for The Simpsons and revealed the series has something special planned for episode 800. The Simpsons is already the longest-running animated American TV series, but episode 800 will mark a major milestone for the show.

The Sdcc panel for The Simpsons included the show's creative team of Matt Groening, Matt Faughnan, Mike Price, and David Silverman. The creative team gave the audience confirmation that, with the current schedule for the series, The Simpsons will air episode 800 in February of 2026.

Episode 800 will also not air alone. On the night it airs in February, two episodes of The Simpsons will actually be broadcast instead. Just what is being planned for the episode, however, is "top secret" for now.

Also during the panel, “Simpsons” producers shared a sneak preview of one of this year’s “Treehouse of Horror” Halloween segments. Idris Elba, Michael Keaton and Viola Davis will be guest starring on that episode, which will feature an opening from guest animator Stan Kelly (from The Onion).

Among those on stage: creator Matt Groening, executive producers Matt Selman and Mike Price, director Matt Faughnan and consulting producer/director David Silverman.

“I honestly thought 36 was where we were going to end it,” Groening joked. “No, there’s no end in sight. We’re going to keep going.

As the sixth and final season of “Solar Opposites” is set to premiere, the cast and crew are prepared to say goodbye to the Opposite family for now.

“The aliens are leaving, but we got so many more stories to tell to get people prepared for that,” said co-creator and executive producer Mike McMahan at the Comic-Con Variety Studio presented by Google TV.

As the series premiered in 2020, “Solar Opposites” has grown to explore various sectors of space with new species for the family to cause chaos with. As different characters interact with the Opposite family, the theme of acceptance and learning from new intergalactic species play a big part into the family members as they continue their space travels.

“They’re queer, gender neutral, immigrant aliens, they love everything we love. Just because they’re different doesn’t mean they’re not different from any other family,” says executive producer Sydney Ryan.

The Solar Opposites will be back for their sixth and final season this fall, as announced by Hulu. The streaming service on which the network has aired for half a decade also dropped a new teaser highlighting an exact date for fans to count down to. Back in March, Season 6 of the animated series was announced as the concluding run that will feature a star-studded guest star list filled with lots of familiar faces.

From creators Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, Solar Opposites Season 6 premieres on October 13 on Hulu, with all ten episodes available to stream at once. Bill Burr is turning his recent stand-up special, Drop Dead Years, into his first streaming album, set to arrive Aug. 1 via 800 Pound Gorilla and All Things Comedy.

The first track from Drop Dead Years is available to stream now, while the album is also available to pre-order. Burr filmed the special in June 2024 at the Moore Theatre in Seattle, and it premiered on Hulu in March.

Drop Dead Years marked Burr’s eighth hour-long stand-up special, and first since 2022, when he released both Friends Who Kill and Live at Red Rocks.

Lionsgate has named Erin Westerman president of its Motion Picture Group, TheWrap has learned. Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair, shared the news Thursday.

In her role, Westerman will oversee all aspects of the development and production of Lionsgate’s slate of theatrical film releases. She will report to Fogelson.
