He has one daughter, Rachel Molina (b. 1980) from a previous relationship. He also has 2 adopted sons, Sean Gascoine & Adam Gascoine, from his wife Jill Gascoine's first marriage.

He has appeared in three films that have been nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: I predatori dell'arca perduta (1981), Chocolat (2000) and An Education (2009).

Has been turned into a Lego mini-figure twice: first for his role as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2 (2004), and again for his role as Satipo in I predatori dell'arca perduta (1981).
