Studied at Heidelberg University, 1963-65, making his stage debut in1965 at the Heidelberg Zimmertheater. Active on the stage at Frankfurt's Theater am Turm, often in avant-garde plays by Peter Handke. Handke introduced Vogler to the director Wim Wenders with whose films he was subsequently associated with.
