Seder graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in religious studies. He enrolled at Boston University School of Law, poised to follow in the footsteps of his father, prominent Worcester lawyer J. Robert Seder, but dropped out when he became disillusioned by what he considered the school's commercialized culture.

His daughter, Myla Rae Seder, was born on August 9, 2005.
