Besides the movies of the 60's and 70's didn't reach the quality of earlier years and Karl Schönböck acted often - besides few exceptions - in average entertainment movies.

He made his acting debut at the Stadttheater Meissen in 1930, it followed other engagements in Hannover, Salzburg and Berlin.

After the war he first gained a foothold at the theater again before the film industry recovered from the destruction.

Is buried next to his first wife Herta in the Munich Waldfriedhof.

Karl Schönböck made his film debut with "Das Mädchen Irene" (1936). Already in this movie he impersonated a Lord - a role type he played in his career over and over again.
