Brian Regan

No, This Is Not Jim Gaffigan
Stand-up comic Brian Regan has built a career out of universal appeal, but the "everyman" comic still gets mistaken for Jim Gaffigan (and whoever does a joke about boullouin cubes) when he's out with his daughter in public.

But that's just one of the tidbits Regan shared with me over the phone ahead of his appearance on A Garden Of Laughs, a benefit show at Madison Square Garden on Jan. 26. where Regan will perform alongside Adam Ferrara, Darrell Hammond, Robert Klein, Brian Regan, Ray Romano and Wanda Sykes to raise money for children in need. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com.

How stand-up has changed since you started?

“Stand-up’s sort of like music in that it is ever evolving. Certain styles come in and go out, and it’s not as easy to define comedy styles as with music, like reggae or country. Comedy is more elusive in terms of description,...

Regan Jailed For Lying To Cops Over Murder
British actor Brian Regan has been jailed for almost five years for lying to cops over the murder of a nightclub doorman.

Regan, who had a longrunning role in popular U.K. drama series Brookside, drove a gunman to and from the location of the hit in Liverpool, north England in February last year.

He later told police he was with his partner at the time of the incident, and was subsequently charged with murder and perverting the course of justice.

Regan was cleared of murder earlier this year when a jury accepted he did not know the man in his car on the night of the killing was a hitman armed with a shotgun.

But he was found guilty of perverting justice by lying about his whereabouts and disposing of a pair of gloves he had been wearing that night.

Regan was caged for four years and 10 months in January but the sentence was only made public on Thursday following the conclusion of the trial of his co-accused.
