Was a British admiral during World War II. He was Commander in Chief
for the naval forces during the D-day and planned major parts of
Operation Overlord.
He was responsible for operation DYNAMO, evacuation at Dunkirk, when he
was Vice-Admiral.
On his way to a conference in Brussel when he died after the aircraft
crashed on take-off at Toussus le Noble.
