José Quintero(1924-1999)

He was virtually responsible for the success of many Eugene O'Neill plays which had flopped in their first Broadway productions. Among them were "The Iceman Cometh", "A Touch of the Poet", and "A Moon For The Misbegotten", and all of them starred actor Jason Robards in what critics consider his greatest performances. The success of these Broadway revivals sparked a new interest in Eugene O'Neill, whose reputation had gone into decline. Both "The Iceman Cometh" and "A Moon For The Misbegotten" were also staged for television, with Robards repeating as the star; however, Sidney Lumet directed the TV version of "The Iceman Cometh".
