In 2019 Sandwell Council named one of its gritting lorries 'Frozie Lawrence' in her honour. The lorry will principally cover the area of Old Hill, where she was born.

Graduated from Dartington College of Arts in 1981 with a degree in theatre. Some years later they awarded her an honorary doctorate.

Was on stage at Stratford where she was awarded the Dame Peggy Ashcroft Award for her portrayal of Kate in Taming of the Shrew.
