In 2009, he received the AMIThE gold medal in recognition of his numerous achievements.

He was in charge of presenting the José Isbert Theater Award every year, awarded by the AMIThE Association (Association of Friends of Historical Theaters of Spain).

Tony Isbert began his career for reasons that were initially unrelated to talent. "I was tall, blond and took good photos. That was unusual in Spanish cinema at that time and, of course, I was given all the roles of young leading men. Then I learned to speak and began to work in the theatre, a field that I have not yet forgotten," he recalled in an interview.

After a week in hospital due to a respiratory illness and being discharged on February 17, he was found dead at his home in Santander.

Isbert appeared in three Spaghetti westerns.

He was well known in the world of the theater for being the one who annually presents the José Isbert Theatre Award awarded by the AMITE Association (Association of Friends of the Theatres of Spain).

His first film success was in 1969 with the film "Are You My Father?".

In the 1980s, Tony Isbert began to slow down his work in film to focus on theatre. A career on stage and devoted to acting that he recounted in an interview in 2020 with David González for El Cierre Digital: "I am in charge of two acting schools and I am filming a medium-length film about Alzheimer's. It is a reality that affects me closely, since two of my aunts died from this disease. My mother died with a great head because she dedicated herself to studying daily for her job," says the actor.
