While Éric and Marie go to meet their parents at the harbor for the holidays, the latter are victims of an overnight hit-and-run. Marie hides the truth from Éric, investigates the accident alone, and soon finds the presumed culprit.

For this documentary, Henri Alekan, after over 115 films, gives the viewer concrete examples of his science of lighting as a cinematographer. Answering Michel Dumoulin's request, he creates uniquely atmospheric lighting corresponding to the various moods of a one and single character. He also exchanges views about cinematography with Nestor Almendros and Wim Wenders.
